    Description

    The Partnership for New York City mobilizes private sector resources and expertise to advance New York City’s standing as a global center of economic opportunity, upward mobility, and innovation.

    The Research & Policy Department acts as the chief resource within the Partnership for timely and authoritative research and analysis of a wide variety of economic and demographic trends and legislative issues. The department incorporates its research and analysis into regular online newsletters, reports, memoranda, letters to elected officials, speeches, and other Partnership documents. The Research & Policy team works closely with the President’s Office, and the Government Affairs and Communications departments to develop innovative—yet practical—solutions to policy issues that impact the economy of the five boroughs of New York City, New York state, and the metropolitan region.

    Summary of Position: Under the direction of the Partnership’s Executive Vice President, the Research & Policy Associate will support the Research & Policy team and work closely with the President’s Office, and then Government Affairs and Communications departments to develop innovative — yet practical — solutions to policy issues that impact the economy of the five boroughs of New York City, New York state, and the metropolitan region.

    Responsibilities

    • Track and analyze demographic and economic data across a wide range of measures
    • Synthesize research and analysis for dissemination across varied stakeholders
    • Lead the development of regular online data reporting
    • Assist with composition of reports, briefing materials, and publications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree is preferred with concentration in, or equivalent experience in, economics, public policy, statistics or related quantitative field
    • Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative research skills, with experience working with government data sets
    • Experience in data visualization
    • Strong writing skills and ability to communicate research findings and technical concepts to non-technical audiences
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
    • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
    • Comfortable managing multiple tasks dealing with diverse topics
    • Interest in New York City, state, and federal public policy
    • Commitment to New York City and the Partnership’s mission
