    JOB SUMMARY:

    The NAOVD Manager will play a pivotal role in the growth and effectiveness of Salvation Army advisory organizations and volunteerism throughout the United States. Your mission will be to strategically oversee and enhance all facets of AO development, from conceptualizing innovative strategies to orchestrating impactful learning opportunities. Your work will help ensure that AOs thrive and expand their impact. In this role, you will be entrusted with executing recommendations from the Community Relations and Development Commission and Advisory Organizations Development Committee of the National Advisory Board.

    • Determines goals and strategies for Advisory Organization initiatives and provides project management to scale efforts and national initiatives for Advisory Boards, Advisory Councils, and Women’s Auxiliary and coordinating with the Echelon Chapter Manager.
    • Creates and maintains Dashboards to monitor progress toward TSA AO Goals and to monitor volunteerism across the country – collect and analyze quarterly reporting data.
    • Develops, manages, and updates the My SA Board website (national Advisory Organizations website), including written and multi-media content.
    • Communicates with Territories to provide Advisory Organizations and volunteerism updates and consultation.
    • Consults with developing and existing Advisory Organizations to provide guidance and resources.
    • Collaborates with Echelon Manager to ensure resources for all AOs are equitable and equally available.
    • Creates and implements communications strategy for Advisory Organizations across multiple channels and social media platforms.
    • Identifies needed resources for continued Advisory Organization growth and provides recommendations to OPMD and NCRDS.
    • Develops Advisory Organization training and development resources.
    • Conducts Advisory Organizations trainings and workshops virtually or as invited.
    • Manages and updates national Advisory Organization contact lists.
    • Creates reports and briefs on Advisory Organizations (AO) and volunteerism activities for NAB Advisory Organization Development Committee, CRDC, and other leadership as requested.
    • Creates supplementary resources for Advisory Organizations in recruiting and marketing.
    • Manages all changes to the Advisory Organizations Manual and dissemination of these revisions to the territories.
    • Supports the planning and coordination of national conferences including proposal review, session and production planning, workshop coordination, and other duties as requested.
    • Hosts r Advisory Organization field calls to provide updates on national projects and initiatives.
    • Works with Corporate Relations department to identify and cultivate potential corporate partners and external resources for Advisory Organizations’ support.
    • Ensures engagement of Advisory Organizations across various TSA national initiatives, programs, and ministries via collaboration with other NHQ sections and departments.
    • Creates supplementary resources for helping local Salvation Army leaders support Advisory Organizations chapters.
    • Ensures Advisory Organizations Development committee audiences’ considerations are included in national TSA events and conferences.

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Assists OPMD with the development and implementation of departmental strategic goals.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    At least a bachelor’s degree in the following fields: business, communications, marketing, or public relations plus at least 3 years’ professional experience, ideally in a non-profit setting.

    Or

    A combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    Experience working with nonprofit boards is strongly preferred.

    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

    Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Working knowledge of building and maintaining effective nonprofit boards, especially advisory boards.

    Knowledge of the principles and practices of community relations.

    Working knowledge of Office 365, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams, with the ability to learn and become proficient in other specific computer software as needed.

    Excellent communication skills, knowledge of the English language (including proper grammar and punctuation) and effective public speaking skills.

    Ability to create and implement a lesson plan for adult learners, including setting learning objectives and crafting interactive learning experiences.

    Ability to organize, prioritize, schedule and complete multiple projects with similar completion date requirements with minimal supervision.

    Ability to build and maintain effective and professional relationships with Salvation Army Officers, community relations professionals, and volunteers across the country.
