    About the Organization:

    Los Angeles Regional Open Space and Affordable Housing (LA ROSAH) collaborative’s mission is to advance policies and strategies that prevent displacement in vulnerable communities related to urban greening investments and to create models for accessible, community-driven parks/open space and affordable housing joint development, including affordable housing production and preservation.

    LA ROSAH is a fiscally sponsored project of Resources Legacy Fund (RLF) and as such all staff are employees of RLF. RLF builds alliances that advance bold solutions to secure a just and resilient world for people and nature. RLF partners with philanthropy, community groups, government, science, and business to promote smart policies and ensure equitable public funding that protect nature, address the climate crisis, and advance environmental equity and justice. Across the American West and internationally, RLF manages complex, multi-year grantmaking programs, and fiscally sponsors projects that accelerate change on environmental and equity issues.     Position Summary:

    The Senior Organizer is a full-time, non-exempt position and reports to the LA ROSAH Program Director. Hiring for this position will be conducted by LA ROSAH and Resources Legacy Fund (RLF). Staff will be housed at the offices of LA ROSAH member organization Friends of the LA River at the Los Angeles River Center & Gardens.

    The Senior Organizer will provide staff support to the collaborative, work with the LA ROSAH team and collaborative members to develop and implement LA ROSAH’s organizing and policy priorities, and engage with a wide range of stakeholders including community members, public agencies and elected officials to to support LA ROSAH’s work around issues of economic and environmental justice.

    Key Responsibilities organizer:

    • Engage allies, community members, and member organizations to work on LA ROSAH’s community preservation and anti-gentrification initiatives and campaigns
    • Conduct research and campaign analysis of local policies related to affordable housing and environmental justice
    • Lead the development and implementation LA ROSAH’s organizing and coalition building strategies including community outreach, education, and leadership training of impacted communities and allied organizations
    • Represent LA ROSAH in local and regional collaborations and with community allies, policymakers, and organizational stakeholders on issues of housing and environmental justice
    • Provide organizational support to the LA ROSAH collaborative, manage and facilitate coalition meetings, track progress on annual work plans

    • Comprehensive understanding of the range of issues facing low-income Los Angeles communities particularly in Northeast Los Angeles
    • Demonstrated commitment to racial and environmental justice, equity, and power building
    • Knowledge of housing policy, economic policy, environmental policy and/or urban planning
    • Experience in community organizing, leadership development, coalition building, or campaign management
    • Self-motivated, creative, detail-oriented, and energetic
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present in front of large groups
    • Ability to work with people across lines of race, ethnicity, class, gender, age, and sexual orientation
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Google applications, and digital media including email, text, and social media
    • Must be located in Los Angeles County and able to work productively both in-office and remotely
    • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced work environment
    • Willingness to work after hours and weekends when necessary
    • Ability to work independently
    • Bilingual Spanish/English

    Compensation and Benefits

    Pay range is $29.38 - $35.79/hour (approximately $55,000 - $67,000/year). We have an alternate Fridays off work schedule (employees work 40 hours one week, 32 hours the next week) and offer a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plan with a 5% match, and generous paid time off. RLF also offers a technology allowance, student loan repayment assistance, the Calm app, mental health benefits and approximately 17 paid holidays per year.
