    Position Overview

    KID Museum is seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and experienced Senior Manager of Institutional Giving to join our development team. Together, the development team works to expand the organization’s contributed revenue stream and portfolio of funders, with an emphasis on expanding KID’s impact regionally within the DC Metro area and nationally.

    Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, and working closely with the Managing Director of Strategy and Planning and the Executive Director, the Sr. Manager of Institutional Giving will be the primary team member responsible for crafting persuasive and effective institutional (Corporate, Foundation and Government) funder pitches and proposal narratives. In addition, they will identify and help grow the pipeline of new institutional prospects and develop/manage relationships with existing institutional partners.

    The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience, with a proven track record of 8+ years experience in non-profit grant writing, fundraising, or related fields. The incumbent will have experience crafting and implementing successful partnerships with foundations and corporations. Ideal candidates are passionate about working to support underserved youth and education. Working knowledge of the institutional giving landscape in Maryland and the Greater D.C. region is preferred. Familiarity with donor management software, CRM systems, and fundraising analytics tools is required. Experience managing Government grants/reports is preferred.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Routinely craft persuasive and effective funder pitches and grant proposal narratives.
    • In partnership with development team members, develop and maintain grant tracking and reporting tracking systems, ensuring timely, strategic, and comprehensive reporting.
    • Create all components and ensure accurate and timely submission of all institutional grant proposals, working closely with other departments to secure program information, impact data, or other inputs in advance.
    • Act as an external representative of KID Museum to foundation staff, corporate leaders, elected officials and other key stakeholders.
    • Develop other materials for institutional funders as directed.
    • Identify opportunities for KID Museum to elevate its presence and influence with local and national institutional partners.
    • Maintain CRM records and moves management for institutional funders and prospective institutional funders.
    • Work closely with the finance team to create compelling program and project budgets that align with proposal narratives and financial reports.
    • Partner with the Marketing & Communications team to develop compelling fundraising collateral to support communications with institutional donors.
    • Successfully complete other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Able to work quickly and effectively, integrating feedback and input from various stakeholders to achieve collective goals.
    • Excellent written communications skills, able to effectively relay KID Museum’s mission and vision.
    • Self-starter with strong attention to detail, and proven ability to balance multiple priorities. Able to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
    • Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-up skills.
    • Adaptable, flexible, patient, and able to work with little outside direction and adapt quickly to change.
    • Demonstrated abilities and experience in working across departments to achieve fundraising goals.
    • Proficiency in donor management software.
    • Possess strategic and innovative thinking capabilities.
    • Flexibility for attendance at evening and weekend events, as required.
