Position Summary
The Political Director position directs all legislative and electoral activities, while also serving as PPESA's senior lobbyist. The ideal candidate must think broadly and strategically about PPESA's advocacy initiatives, state and federal collaborations, and activist engagement in communities across New York. Their primary focus will be on successfully implementing legislative and electoral initiatives that advance reproductive health, rights, and justice for all New Yorkers. This role demands a skilled strategist capable of navigating complex political landscapes and mobilizing resources to create meaningful impact in line with Planned Parenthood's core values.

Travel Requirements
This position requires significant primary focus on Albany during the legislative session. The role demands regular presence in the state capital, particularly from January through June, to effectively engage in legislative activities and lobbying efforts. In addition to Albany-based work, the position involves attendance at one annual statewide conference, typically lasting 2 days. Throughout the year, participation in several smaller conference days and lobby days is expected, each usually requiring 1-2 days of travel. These events are crucial for networking, advocacy, and coordinating efforts across the state.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000, commensurate with experience.

Process
Our process begins with a preliminary review of applications. Prospective candidates will be invited to a telephone conversation with a team member to discuss the position, their professional background, and relevant life experiences. Candidates who progress further will engage in up to two rounds of interviews, conducted either via Zoom or in person, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation.
