    Description

    Shakespeare Theatre Company, located in downtown Washington DC, seeks a Retail and Concessions Manager responsible for the daily operation of concessions and merchandise sales at the Klein Theatre and Harman Hall. Responsibilities include managing the budgets and maximizing profitability; sourcing, developing, and ordering products; processing invoices and payments to vendors; cash handling; and reporting on spending and income. Staff management is a key component, including hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising Concessions Attendants. This position works in conjunction with the Box Office Manager and the Front of House Manager and, with the Director of Audience Services, ensures the highest quality customer service to our patrons. If you are a fantastic communicator who understands food handling, enjoys working nights and weekends, and has an interest in the world of entertainment, then this could be the position for you! This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and an annual salary of $55,000 - $60,000.

    Candidates should be highly organized, have great communication skills, be analytical regarding cost versus revenue, and creative in product sourcing and development. At least 3 years’ experience is required in staff management, customer service, food vendor operations, and POS management. Knowledge of theatre is a plus but not required. This position requires regular lifting of up to 30 lbs, the ability to move quickly on stairs, and carting product between theatres (approximately 2 blocks). Applicants must have or be able to obtain an ABCA license, Food Handlers Manager certificate, and first aid/CPR/AED training. This is an onsite position; extended evening and weekend hours required.
