This dynamic role combines high-level donor communication strategy with hands-on storytelling support, helping projects amplify their impact and build authentic connections with donors.     POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Strategist, Donor Communications and Storytelling is a dynamic and creative professional who will lead the charge in crafting and curating stories that highlight the transformative work of our projects. Serving as a partner to a diverse portfolio of initiatives, this individual will shape and execute storytelling strategies that engage donors, amplify underrepresented voices, and inspire action.

    This role combines high-level fundraising strategy with hands-on support, ensuring each project can effectively communicate its impact, inspire generosity, and advance Multiplier’s DEIJ (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice) commitments.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Donor Engagement Support:

    • Develop donor communications: Partner with project leaders to design and refine messaging that inspires generosity and builds authentic connections with donors, from individual contributors to major institutional partners.
      • Optimize donor engagement strategies: Identify the most compelling aspects of Multiplier’s project’s work and provide high-level guidance on crafting quality materials that align with donor priorities, showcase program outcomes, and build long-term relationships.
      • Support grant success: Provide hands-on support in refining grant proposals and reports, ensuring they integrate compelling storytelling and resonate with funder priorities.

    Storytelling and Communication Strategy:

    • Lead storytelling efforts: Partner with project teams to develop and implement storytelling strategies that showcase their unique impact and align with donor interests.
    • Craft compelling narratives: Uncover transformative stories from the communities we serve, translating them into donor-facing materials such as case statements, reports, campaign messaging, and multimedia content.
    • Amplify equity through storytelling: Ensure storytelling strategies center on equity and inclusion, highlighting and elevating underrepresented voices.

    Organizational Collaboration and Innovation:

    • Mentor and train project teams: Provide one-on-one coaching, training sessions, and resources to strengthen storytelling and donor communication skills across Multiplier’s portfolio.
    • Support portfolio-wide impact: Share insights and high-impact strategies across Multiplier’s projects, fostering collaboration and innovation in fundraising and storytelling.
    • Innovate with media formats: Experiment with creative storytelling formats such as videos, podcasts, interactive media, and virtual tours to engage donors in new and exciting ways.
    • Stay ahead of trends: Research emerging storytelling tools, technologies, and strategies to ensure donor communications are inspiring and relational.

    • Enriched storytelling: Project teams are empowered to share their work effectively with donors, ensuring consistent and inspiring narratives.
    • Advancement of DEIJ initiatives: Authentic storytelling is used to highlight the transformative impact of DEIJ initiatives, inspiring funders to invest in meaningful and equitable social change.
    • Enhanced donor engagement and retention: Donors feel deeply connected to our projects and programs through powerful, authentic stories leading to increased donor retention and new funding opportunities.
    • Elevated fundraising success: Support for grant proposals and impact reporting results in improved funding outcomes.
    • Curation of impact stories: A robust library of project stories is ready for use in stewardship and thought leadership pieces.

    SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUESTED:

    • 7+ years of experience in storytelling, donor communications, or related fields, with a strong track record of engaging diverse audiences.
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and content development skills across multiple formats, including case statements, donor reports, and campaign messaging.
    • Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective donor engagement strategies.
    • Experience mentoring or consulting with nonprofit teams to improve storytelling and communications.
    • Understanding of DEIJ principles and their integration into storytelling and donor engagement.
