    The UDW Resource Center (URC) is a dynamic nonprofit workers center that provides organizing support, training and education with caregivers in the public and private sectors throughout California. URC is a space for these workers to organize themselves for better wages and working conditions, to change the care economy to benefit all Californians, and to organize for social, racial, and economic justice. We are dedicated to promoting the dignity and wellbeing of caregivers through leadership development, education, and material support such as food, housing, and healthcare. This program seeks a highly motivated individual with experience in immigration law, including extensive work with immigration forms and procedures such as N-400, I-765, and I-90 (specifically fee waivers), to work with us to start our Gateway to Citizenship Initiative that will help care workers apply for citizenship, residency, and employment authorization renewals all around the state.     Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Evaluate and assess immigration eligibility to ensure compliance with immigration regulations
    • Monitor and analyze changes to immigration regulations and policies
    • Assist with preparing and filing, N-400, Application for Naturalization, I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, and I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card
    • Communicate with immigration authorities to resolve issues
    • Provide advice to employers and employees on immigration matters
    • Assist with training on immigration policies and procedures
    • Maintain confidential records and documents related to immigration
    • Coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with immigration laws
    • Create and maintain detailed reports and documents related to immigration activities
    • Develop strategies to effectively manage the recruitment process
    • Proactively identify and address potential immigration issues
    • Participate in immigration meetings and events
    • Supervise 3 case managers and 1 administrative assistant

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in law, International Relations, Political Science, or Business Administration, or a related field.
    • 5-10 years of hands-on experience in immigration law, including extensive work with immigration forms and procedures such as N-400, I-765, and I-90 (specifically fee waivers).
    • Fluency in English and in one or more of the following languages is required:
    • Spanish
    • Vietnamese
    • Korean
    • Tagalog
    • Russian
    • Assyrian
    • Arabic
    • Somali

    Preferred Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in law, International Relations, Political Science, or Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Master’s degree or Juris Doctor (JD) is a plus but not required.
    • Proven experience in evaluating and assessing immigration eligibility and ensuring compliance with immigration regulations and policies.
    • Experience in providing guidance to employers and employees on immigration-related matters, particularly work permits, permanent residency, and naturalization.
    • In-depth understanding of U.S. immigration laws, policies, and regulations, including the ability to stay informed about changes to laws and processes.
    • Experience in providing leadership or guidance to less experienced team members, helping to develop and refine immigration policies and procedures.
    • Ability to support training efforts within the team or organization regarding best practices for handling immigration cases.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees, community contacts, government officials, and participants.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail are essential.
    • Being a notary public is a plus
