    POSITION SUMMARY

    We are seeking a self-directed individual to support our growing grants portfolio—a revenue stream that accounts for more than 30% of our organization’s $8 million budget. The Grants Coordinator is a project management expert who excels at interdepartmental collaboration. Reporting to the Institutional Giving Manager, this individual manages applications and reporting for a portfolio of private foundations, corporate foundations, tribal funding, and county/municipal grants. The ideal candidate is organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently and collaboratively with a team.

    FUNCTION/TASKS

    GRANT APPLICATIONS AND REPORTING

    • Cultivate, steward, and solicit funding from a portfolio of 15-25 grantors. Portfolio will emphasize corporate foundations, community foundations, tribal grantors, and other identified grantors.
    • Write and submit grant applications for funding requests ranging from $5,000-$40,000.
    • Support writing of major grant applications ($50,000+) with support and direction from Institutional Giving Manager.
    • Coordinate, write, and submit quarterly reports for county and municipal grants.
    • Coordinate and communicate with internal Operations team to ensure grant deliverables are met.
    • Collaborate with Operations and Finance teams to gather program details, internal data, financial reports, legal documents, and other information needed for grants.
    • Write grant proposals that use contextual data and ethical storytelling to make a strong case for funding programs at BGCSPS.
    • Establish positive, inspiring, and professional relationships with all grantors (new and existing).

    ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT FOR GRANT PROCESSES

    • Track application and reporting deadlines in the annual grants calendar.
    • Maintain a library of template grant language that serves as a springboard for future applications.
    • Capture grant opportunities and key funder information in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
    • Organize and maintain supporting grant documents on Google Drive.
    • Facilitate monthly grants planning meeting between our Philanthropy and Operations team members (in collaboration with Institutional Giving Manager).
    • Gather and curate content (e.g., photos, stories, quotes) for informal funder stewardship and formal reporting.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 2+ years of experience in grant writing and/or grant implementation.
    • 3+ years of experience in project management and ability to manage parallel projects and deadlines.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills used to persuade, educate, and inform audiences. Ability to adapt tone, formality, and vocabulary to match different audiences (i.e., lay audience vs. an audience of subject matter experts).
    • Highly organized with the ability to create systems and streamlined processes.
    • Proactive and clear communicator who takes initiative to follow up with team members if team deliverables are delayed or not met.
    • Understanding of what tasks must be owned by this position and what tasks can be deferred or delegated to team members.
    • Ability to work in a multicultural setting with people of diverse lived experiences, personalities, and work styles.
    • Flexibility to re-prioritize existing tasks and accommodate emerging opportunities in a fast-paced fundraising environment.
    • Proficiency with Google Workspace or other cloud-based productivity software.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Prior experience in fundraising, marketing/sales, and nonprofit organizations.
    • Familiarity with basic accounting principles and experience writing grant budgets.
    • Previous experience with implementing public grants (e.g., federal, state, county, city funding).
    • Understanding of ethical storytelling principles.
    • Knowledge of local funders in Pierce, Mason, and Kitsap Counties.
    • Previous experience working with national nonprofit organizations that have local chapters is a plus (e.g., Boys & Girls Clubs, Communities In Schools, YMCA, etc.).
    • Desire to grow personally and professionally. Sense of humor and ability to stay calm under pressure is a plus.
    • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge or other donor database software.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, AirTable or other spreadsheet/database software.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Skills essential for successful communications include speaking and writing. Physical requirements include sight, hearing, being active and on your feet for a minimum of four hours; adapt to changes in a highly energetic work environment; other duties as assigned.
