About the Project
Global Give Back Circle (GGBC) HER Lab model is a dynamic and impactful project aimed at empowering marginalized young women in rural Kenya through the scale-up of the Her Lab Program. Through the scale-up GGBC is committed to increasing the participation of marginalized young women in rural Kenya in dignified and fulfilling work. This initiative goes beyond just economic empowerment; it is a passionate effort to promote gender equality and ensure that young women, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds, have access to the skills and opportunities they need to succeed in the workforce or through entrepreneurship.
GGBC has partnered with like-minded organizations in West Pokot, Samburu and Kajiado, to reach marginalized rural adolescent girls and young women across the educational spectrum, including recent secondary school graduates and those who have fallen through the cracks of the formal education system.
A key barrier for many community-based organizations is the lack of commercial skills, which are essential to sustain programs and secure long-term funding. GGBC has been intentional about embedding commercial skills into its programming, ensuring partners have the required skills to implement programs and secure funding. This approach will continue to be applied to sustain the HER Lab Program in Kenya. Alongside day-to-day programming, GGBC will teach its site partners the essential skills to maintain and grow the HER Lab model independently. In addition, GGBC will leverage its international network to connect potential partners and funders with the HER Lab programs, ensuring long-term viability and scaling up the impact.
