    Mission

The Sinai Assisted Housing Foundation – “Sinai House” – is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enable families to move from homelessness to independence by providing safe, affordable housing, comprehensive social services, and financial support. Sinai House offers two-bedrooms, two-bathroom, partially furnished apartments to families who are experiencing homeless. Our facilities accommodate four families at a time. Residents can live at Sinai House for two years while working to achieve stability and independence.

We assist families in achieving their goals by offering our adult residents structured case management, financial literacy, educational and career counseling, individual and group therapy, and peer-to-peer support. Equally important, we provide our resident children with academic support, mentoring, and, when indicated, psychological counseling.

    Position Description

In partnership with the Executive Director, the Education Services Coordinator is responsible for providing educational service coordination for child residents and alumni children. As a critical component of the case management team, the education services coordinator will also participate in case planning, assessments, treatment planning, referrals, crisis intervention and other matters that are critical to the success of our residents.

    Scope of Services

    • To ensure appropriate school placements in public, charter, or private schools for child residents and alumni children of Sinai House.
    • To identify and secure educational resources for child residents and alumni children that they are entitled to by law, including testing, Individual Educational Plans, evaluations, etc.
    • Coordinate and calendar quarterly field trips and/or age-appropriate activities that can be hosted on site for families.
    • Connect child residents and alumni children to meaningful after-school activities and summer enrichment activities that reinforce academic learning.
    • Train parents to serve as educators and advocates. Accompany parents to meetings involving the education of their children when necessary.
    • Connect parents to critical resources that they can access independently from the program.
    • Coordinate childcare for quarterly community resident meetings.
    • Lead resource and in-kind donations such as back to school supplies, school uniforms and other child focused resources.

On a case-by-case basis the education service coordinator may need to assist the Executive Director in coordinator services for adult residents.
