    Location: Reston, Virginia (Hybrid- minimum 2 days onsite)

    Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

    Based in Reston, Virginia, FBLA’s National Center is home to approximately 15 full-time professional staff. This small but mighty team fosters a fun, dynamic, performance-driven culture where everyone works together to get the job done.

    Position Overview

    The Executive Assistant to the CEO provides high-level administrative support to the CEO and plays a key role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of executive operations. This individual will act as a liaison between the CEO and internal/external stakeholders, manage schedules, coordinate board relations, and support strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Executive Support

    • Manage the CEO’s calendar, including scheduling meetings, travel arrangements, and event coordination.
    • Serve as executive office liaison between the CEO and FBLA staff, board members, donors, and key partners.
    • Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, and briefing materials for CEO internal and external meetings.
    • Ensure the CEO is well-prepared for meetings by compiling agendas, background materials, and follow-up action items, collaborating with FBLA staff and external stakeholders.
    • Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

    Board and Governance Support

    • Coordinate logistics for Board of Directors meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and post meeting follow up.
    • Maintain accurate board records and support governance-related activities.
    • Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and strategic updates for board and committee meetings.

    Operational and Project Management

    • Support strategic initiatives and special projects as assigned by the CEO.
    • Manage key communications and follow-up actions with internal teams and external stakeholders.
    • Assist in the development of organizational reports, including annual reports and strategic planning documents.
    • Work closely with the management team to ensure smooth operations and workflow within the executive office.

    Communications and Stakeholder Engagement

    • Draft emails, social media posts, memos, and other communications on behalf of the CEO.
    • Coordinate high-level engagements with partners, donors, and affiliated organizations.
    • Ensure timely responses to inquiries directed to the CEO’s office.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, or a related field preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience in executive support, preferably in a nonprofit, association, or education-related organization.
    • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills and project management skills, with strong attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in professional correspondence and stakeholder engagement.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with project management tools (Asana, Monday.com, or similar).
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
    • Elevated level of discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
    • Experience working with boards of directors and familiarity with governance best practices is a plus.
    • Passion for education, leadership development, and student success is highly desirable.
    • With advance notice travel may be expected to support CEO/Board/Stakeholder activities.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Starting salary $75,000, commensurate with experience. Exempt, not eligible for overtime.

    Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

    Travel Requirements: Attendance at two National Leadership Conferences, typically held in May and June, is required. Additional travel may be requested based on role and organizational needs.
