    Description

    Position Summary:

    Josephine’s Place is seeking a motivated, organized and community-focused individual to coordinate our Volunteer Program and Entrepreneurship Program. The ideal candidate will help drive our Entrepreneurship Program to the next level by providing resources and connections for the women to market their homemade items. The candidate will manage and expand the Volunteer program so that the volunteers are fully oriented and trained, while at the same time the candidate will focus on ways of increasing the number of women who will learn English and computer skills.

    Responsibilities:

    Entrepreneurship Program:

    • Organize the program so that the women are moving from learning skills to actively selling their products.
    • Develop and establish relationship with local markets, craft fairs, online platforms, and potential outlets where women can sell their items.
    • Identify and provide resources that will support the women such as mentors who will assist them with “business” skills, marketing skills, and business management skills.
    • Cultivate relationships with local businesses, organizations, and communities to provide sales opportunities and further the visibility of the participants’ products.
    • Mentor, evaluate and provide reports on the successes of the women.

    Volunteer Program:

    • Attract, recruit, and design a program to educate volunteers.
    • Develop strategies to motivate volunteers to be engaged and committed to the mission.
    • Coordinate the schedule and logistics of making certain all activities are covered.
    • Organize events to affirm and to recognize the work of the volunteers.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in management, community development or a related field.
    • At least two years’ experience in program coordination and management.
    • Familiarity with entrepreneurship principles.
    • Bilingual, English and Spanish, would be beneficial.
    • Passion for social impact and empowerment of women.
    • Collaborative and team-oriented, yet able to work independently and make decisions.

    Skills:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to engage with diverse groups of people.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
    • Experience with building relationships with volunteers, businesses and local communities.
    • Ability to train others and a passion to help others succeed.
    • Knowledge of online platforms such as Etsy and social media, as well as other entities that are willing to sell the products of the women.
