    POSITION PURPOSE

    The Elizabeth Dole Foundation seeks a Hidden Helpers Program Director with child/adolescent development expertise to oversee the ongoing implementation of the Foundation’s Hidden Helpers program. This role will help advance healthy outcomes for children, adolescents, and families living in households with an ill, injured, or wounded veterans, one of the fundamental pillars of EDF’s new Strategic Plan, which is to Improve Support and Outcomes for Caregiving Youth and Families. This individual will be responsible for continuing to develop the infrastructure required to support the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s leadership of the Hidden Helpers Coalition, while overseeing the launch of core service offerings at EDF.

    The Program Director will oversee a diverse and growing coalition that includes participation from nonprofits, corporations, philanthropy, government agencies, and research, while ensuring action plans from each coalition work group are implemented around the achievement of desired and measurable outcomes. The Director will also play a pivotal role in the implementation of coalition activities, ensuring the program’s success through strong partnerships and effective program execution.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Program Management:

    • Oversee day-to-day program operations for the Hidden Helpers program.
    • Lead the Foundation’s Hidden Helpers programming to include the monitoring of existing resources, enhancing current EDF strategies, and the creation of new initiatives to promote healthy military caregiver child development.
    • Work in close partnership with the co-chairs of our Hidden Helpers Coalition, Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), to grow our programmatic offerings, including the online Family Resource Hub.
    • Assist with budget development and management, funding proposals, and reporting requirements to include evaluating the efficacy of the Hidden Helpers Coalition.
    • Support EDF’s clinical transformation effort aimed at engaging health care providers on the needs of military and veteran children. This will include working closely with EDF staff and consulting directly with health care providers and systems leaders, as well as academic researchers and curriculum experts.
    • Collaborate and engage with leaders in the education and policy space to raise awareness of hidden helpers and support system-level policy changes to better meet their needs.
    • Support the development of the Foundation’s child and youth programming strategy and assist with design of offerings and programs to support military and veteran families.
    • Serve as a liaison to EDF and WWP’s communications and marketing teams, assisting in storytelling and public awareness campaigns with an aim to amplify the Coalition’s impact.
    • Provide research support as requested.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Coalition Management:

    • Manage all activities related to the Hidden Helpers Coalition (liaise directly and independently with Coalition members and track progress made towards commitments and pledges for support using Asana and Salesforce).
    • Work with Coalition members to develop clear, compelling, and successful short- and long-term strategies with planned objectives and priorities to drive the growth of the initiative.
    • Build a culture around an impactful mission with particular focus on teamwork, accountability, innovation, and entrepreneurism.
    • Work with Coalition members to innovate, unlock value and capitalize on resources that will support hidden helpers ensuring they are thriving and enhance family functioning.
    • Facilitate coalition meetings, coordinate collaborative efforts, and foster shared initiatives.
    • Represent the program in community meetings, events, and advocacy efforts.
    • Create and distribute program materials, reports, and communications.
    • Lead the programmatic planning and thought leadership of the annual Hidden Helpers Summit to bring together Coalition members, families, and partners for an engaging and educational multi-day event that fosters knowledge sharing, skill-building, and connection.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's Degree in the areas of Social Work, Education, Public Administration, or a related field.
    • 5-7 years’ experience in program management, youth services, or community organizing.
    • Proven experience in coalition building and stakeholder engagement.
    • Strong leadership, project management, and strategic planning skills.
    • Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building abilities.
    • Understanding of the existing landscape of programs available to military and veteran families.
    • Experience with or able to work with the military and veteran community, military caregivers, and donors in culturally competent manner.
    • Prioritizes excellent and timely customer service.
    • High energy level. Self-starter; willing to take initiative.
    • Experience designing and evaluating surveys leveraging SurveyMonkey and other online tools.
    • Demonstrated professional standards and unwavering integrity and ethical conduct; understands when confidentiality is required.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
    • Motivated by deadlines.
    • Excellent writing, reporting and presentation skills.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Ability to work in a hybrid work environment with at least three days from the Washington, D.C. based corporate office and the remaining days from a home office.
    • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, possible occasional travel, about 5%.
    • Ability to work remotely from home and within an office environment and have significant interaction via telephone, videoconference, IM, and email with EDF’s national team.
