    Description

    What you’ll be responsible for

    • Leading campaigns with our partners to make their demands heard on the international stage. You’ll be campaigning for accountability and justice for victims and survivors, for an inclusive political transition and reconstruction processes, for the protection of civic space from disinformation, and to support a network of young Syrians who can contribute to leading global advocacy. You’ll work on multiple campaigns simultaneously, from concept through to delivery.
    • Telling the inspiring stories that inspire a movement. You’ll work to mobilise our digital movement of half a million people to take action in solidarity with the demands of our Syrian partners. You will be leading creative campaigns that strengthen the global justice movement and will monitor and expose any human rights abuses by de facto authorities and other groups.
    • Oversee the development of campaign content. This will include email campaigns, videos, graphics and campaign websites with external partners and creative agencies. You will be running experiments, trying different and innovative approaches, and sharing data-driven results.
    • Creating a vision and strategy for a team of talented campaigners. You’ll lead a small team of campaigners and storytellers across multiple locations, bringing fresh approaches to collaboration and campaigning. You’ll also be part of the senior management team, helping steer The Syria Campaign’s overall strategy plans with a particular focus on identifying opportunities for campaigns.
    • Developing and overseeing reporting processes for campaigns to ensure the medium and long-term success of our campaigns. You will manage budgets and project delivery alongside donors and partners and the TSC team
    • Representing The Syria Campaign. You’ll develop relationships with creatives, peers and partners, and act as a media spokesperson when needed.
    • Support fundraising efforts of the organisation by identifying and engaging with prospective donors and participating in proposals development.

    Qualifications

    We want a creative, smart campaigner able to think of new ways to bring the demands of civil society to an audience around the world. This is a challenging role that requires creativity, flexibility, good judgment, initiative and an ability to deliver results.

    The core competencies which any successful candidate will display are:

    • At least five years’ experience in campaigning, include at least two in a management position
    • Strong strategic and creative skills in response to fast-changing events
    • Experience leading digital campaigns that mobilise and grow large supporter bases to take action, including testing and analysing results in a CRM system
    • Professionalism, efficiency and results-oriented delivery on short timelines
    • Understanding of how civic advocacy, policy and public campaigning function. In particular, experience influencing EU, UK, US and UN decision makers.
    • Strong teamwork skills, comfortable in a highly collaborative team culture
    • Experience managing staff
    • Strong writing skills
    • Commitment to a free and democratic future for Syria, and global justice more broadly. Knowledge of key human rights frameworks.
    • Understanding of media and social media
    • Digital proficiency including basic experience building web pages [desirable but not required]
    • High- quality written and verbal Arabic [desirable but not required]
    • Experience working remotely [desirable but not required]
