    Organization for the Development of the Indigenous Maya

    WE ARE LOOKING FOR! GRANT WRITER

    We are looking for a Grant Writer, responsible for researching, drafting and submitting grant proposals in order to generate funds for the organization.

    At Organization for the Development of the Indigenous Maya (ODIM) we provide community-driven, high quality and culturally competent health and education services to the indigenous communities of San Juan and San Pablo La Laguna in Guatemala. Our services include two medical clinics as well as a dental clinic. With the intention of preventing ill health, an elevated quality of life and creating sustainable change, we also have five community health and education programs. We employ 30 staff in the two communities of San Juan and San Pablo La Laguna - 87% of which are Tz’utujil Maya.

    Specific responsibility
    • Responsible for researching, drafting and submitting grant proposals in order to generate funds for the organization.
    • Study objectives, achievements, strengths and needs of the organization and work in conjunction with the Executive Director to prioritize areas of focus and options for growing and enhancing programs.
    • Collaborate with the programs team in the design of interventions, monitoring, evaluation & learning plans, and to collaborate on report writing for donors.
    • Develop and submit engaging and ambitious proposals that ODIM is capable of executing successfully, with a focus on healthcare and community education, and relevant to meet the needs of the Tz'utujil target population.
    • Work alongside and maintain strong communication with the Communications Manager and the Fundraising Manager to ensure parallel and coordinated messaging and fundraising efforts.
    Requirements for the position
    • Bachelors Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or similar.
    • Proven results in development of successful grants from government and nongovernmental funders and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
    • Experience in: Information management / databases. Budgets. Public Health.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.
    • Strong research abilities and up to date knowledge of development and grantmaking trends.
    • Ability to work independently and with a high level of initiative.
