    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The Donor Engagement Associate is an essential member of the Development team, reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer. This position is responsible for supporting Brooklyn Org’s growth through donor cultivation, stewardship, data management, events, and prospect research.

    This full-time, non-exempt position is newly created to support the organization’s expanding impact.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Donor Relations and Data Management

    • Serve as primary CRM database manager for donor information, incoming donations, and account notes.
      • Coordinate pledge documentation and track board give/get donations.
      • Ensure accuracy of reports; reconcile reports with accounting database.
    • Generate timely acknowledgment letters (both electronic and handwritten) for donations.
    • Conduct prospect research and maintain a list of donor and sponsor prospects.
    • Provide administrative support for donor communications, including drafting correspondence and recommendations.
    • Innovate ways to engage and cultivate donors, keeping Brooklyn Org’s racial equity focus central.
    • Assist with Spark Prize Committee member recruitment, communication, and tracking.
    • Maintain organizational calendars and timelines to meet key deadlines (e.g., annual appeal, events).
    • Oversee Annual Appeal logistics (scheduling, creation, lists, mailing).
    • Support board and committee meetings by preparing materials and attending as needed.

    Events and Logistics

    • Assist in planning and executing special events, including in-home donor gatherings and public events.
    • Prepare invitation lists, track RSVPs, and manage event logistics.
    • Work with the CDO and VP of development on sponsorships, solicitations, and vendor management.
    • Develop donor communications for pre- and post-event engagement.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum 2 years of project management experience and/or administrative experience coordinating detailed projects aimed at engaging diverse constituents, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
    • Experience with CRM database management, Salesforce experience preferred.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a broad range of constituents and keen attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
    • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
    • Customer-service orientation with flexibility in communication styles.
    • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a collaborative team; to take both initiative and direction.
    • Ability to apply creative problem solving and troubleshoot challenges as they arise.
    • Familiarity with nonprofits, including grant-making organizations, charitable giving funds, and/or fiscal sponsorships.
    • Passionate about creating opportunities for Brooklyn’s residents; knowledge of Brooklyn nonprofits a plus.
    • Commitment to the Foundation’s racial equity focus and core values.
    • Interest in community philanthropy and community engagement.
    • High level of personal and professional integrity; discretion in working with confidential information.
    • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a collaborative team; to take both initiative and direction.
    • Ability to apply creative problem solving and troubleshoot challenges as they arise.

    Brooklyn Org has a competitive and exhaustive benefits and leave plan and the salary range for this position is $60,000 – $70,000 dependent on the successful candidate’s background and experience.
