    POSITION SUMMARY

    USA for UNFPA is seeking an experienced and energetic relationship builder to lead and grow the organization’s Major and Planned Giving Programs. The Senior Manager will manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships to secure $10,000+ gifts and planned giving commitments. This role will also build and lead the planned giving program, driving the development of USA for UNFPA’s Legacy Society.

    The Senior Manager will spend at least 40% of their time directly engaging with donors through personalized outreach, leveraging moves management strategies to align donor interests with USA for UNFPA’s mission. Occasional travel, and availability on evenings and weekends are expected for events and donor engagement activities.

    This role works closely with the Director of Leadership Giving, CEO, and Board Members to identify and develop new donor relationships while supporting organizational growth and strategic priorities.

    KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

    Identification and Qualification:

    • Develop customized engagement strategies for a portfolio of 150 major donors tailored to each prospect’s interests, building a robust pipeline of major and planned giving prospects aligned with USA for UNFPA’s mission and goals.
    • Conduct in-depth prospect research to identify and prioritize major donors with the capacity to make major or planned gifts.
    • Collaborate with board members and key stakeholders to tap into their networks and uncover new donor prospects.
    • Oversee and lead donor research tools and systems for the organization, ensuring efficient and strategic use of wealth screening platforms

    Cultivation:

    • Spend at least 40% of the time in direct outreach, including in-person meetings and donor cultivation events to build relationships with donors
    • Collaborate with the Chief Executive and Director of Leadership Giving to conceptualize affinity groups, donor circles, and donor cultivation events that attract and engage donors.
    • Work closely with the Leadership Giving team to design bespoke experiences that reflect donor interests and demonstrate the impact of their contributions.
    • Lead the planning and coordination of field visits and trips for high-level donors.
    • Develop content, including tailored appeals, proposals, and event briefings, to engage donors meaningfully.

    Solicitation:

    • Lead strategic solicitations for five- and six-figure gifts through face-to-face meetings with donors, working alongside leadership and the board as needed.
    • Develop expertise in planned giving vehicles, including Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Unitrusts, Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), and Donor Advised Funds (DAFs).
    • Develop proposals and blended gift agreements that align donor interests with USA for UNFPA’s priorities.
    • Create upgrade strategies for current donors, encouraging increased commitments through planned giving vehicles or expanded gift structures.
    • Expand the Legacy Society, growing planned giving commitments through wills, bequests, and other planned giving vehicles.

    Stewardship:

    • Develop and implement individualized stewardship plans for major donors and Legacy Society members.
    • Coordinate with the Leadership Giving Associate to manage stewardship activities, including thank-you notes, impact reports, and recognition at events.
    • Maintain and update donor records in Raiser’s Edge, ensuring comprehensive records of communications and gifts.
    • Conduct regular mid-year and year-end portfolio reviews, adjusting strategies as needed to meet revenue goals.

    EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
    • 5+ years of progressive major gifts experience, including a proven ability to secure five- and six-figure gifts.
    • Demonstrated experience in planned giving, including familiarity with Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Unitrusts, IRAs, and DAFs.
    • Knowledge of tax economics, estate law basics, and investment concepts related to charitable giving.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with experience engaging major donors and board members.
    • Knowledge of moves management best practices and proficiency in Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM tools.
    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to develop proposals and donor presentations.
    • Event planning experience is preferred, particularly in organizing donor cultivation events.
    • People management experience preferred, with ability to mentor and develop junior staff
