    Description

    FONA's venue rental program is responsible for renting the grounds of the National Arboretum for weddings and corporate events. FONA’s Events Coordinator will help with the implementation of this program. In addition, the Events Coordinator will help staff a variety of Community Events offered by FONA throughout the year.

    The job requires mostly weekend work, with the occasional weekday shift.

    Venue Rental Program Support

    As a Point of Contact (POC) for the venue rental program, the Events Coordinator is required to be on-site for rental events from the start of vendor setup until after the last vendor has departed. They may also assist the Sales Manager with various tasks needed to support the event. After each event, the coordinator must walk the site to ensure it is clear of all equipment and trash.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Direct and manage vendor (catering, rentals, florals) truck arrivals and setup.
    • Complete the end-of-night report and follow the event checklist.
    • Ensure all vendors adhere to Arboretum rules and regulations.
    • Represent FONA onsite at events.
    • Operate the golf cart to transport couples and family members to event locations.

    Work will only occur when we have an event booked. Work typically follow this schedule:

    • Fridays, Saturday and Sunday the work will be up to 13-hr shifts starting at noon or shorter shifts that start later in the day.
    • Monday-Thursday the work will be in 7-hr shifts that fall between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm. These shifts are more negotiable than the others.

    COMMUNITY EVENTS SUPPORT

    As staff support for Community Events, the Events Coordinator will help staff community events like 5K runs, and market events, the Garden Fair, the Winter Festival & Tree Sale, as well as other community events.

    DETAILS

    This position is shared with other Events Coordinators. The hours will be between 0 and 30 hours per week. The start date is first week of May and seasonal. Events are in May, June, August, September, October, and first two weeks of November. The position may be renewable in 2026.

    Passing a background check is required for this position.

    Reliability and speaking Spanish is a must!
