Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital is seeking a dynamic Marketing and Communications Specialist to join our team and help bring the Girl Scout experience to life through compelling digital and print content.

    About the Role

    As our Marketing and Communications Specialist, you will play a key role in promoting Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital through innovative campaigns, engaging content, and strategic communications. You will be responsible for creating, writing, and editing materials for digital and print platforms, developing email marketing campaigns, and producing multimedia content that resonates with our members, volunteers, and broader community. Working closely with internal teams, you will ensure that all content aligns with our brand voice and messaging standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with various departments to develop and execute multichannel marketing campaigns that drive membership growth, fundraising, program participation, and retail sales.
    • Manage social media accounts, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter (X).
    • Create engaging multimedia content such as presentations, e-newsletters, videos, and graphics to tell the Girl Scout story.
    • Assist in crafting speeches, briefing memos, talking points, and other communications for organizational representatives.
    • Support media outreach by developing press releases, pitch memos, b-roll footage, and managing our photo library.
    • Utilize national Girl Scouts of the USA campaign materials to enhance brand consistency and visibility.
    • Capture photography at events to expand our visual storytelling assets.
    • Stay up to date on marketing trends and recommend best practices for digital and print initiatives.
    • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics to assess the impact of campaigns and optimize future strategies.
    • Perform other related duties as needed to support the team.

    What We’re Looking For

    • At least two years of marketing experience, including content creation for print and digital campaigns. Internship experience will be considered.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong editorial and storytelling abilities.
    • Strong analytical thinking and ability to interpret marketing performance data.
    • Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and project execution.
    • Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
    • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and stay organized.
    • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), video editing software, HTML, and content management systems is preferred.
    • Familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager for website content is a plus.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
    • Access to reliable car transportation for travel within the council area, much of which is not accessible by rail or bus.

    The starting salary for this position is $52,000.
