    Description

Shakespeare Theatre Company seeks a dynamic Director of Audience Services to manage the patron experience. STC is a nationally recognized theatre and was the recipient of the 2012 Regional Tony Award, with two performance spaces, the 761-seat Harman Hall and 445-seat Klein Theatre, both located in D.C.’s Penn Quarter. The remainder of the 24/25 Season includes productions of Kunene and the King, Uncle Vanya with Hugh Bonneville, the world premiere of Emily Burns’s Frankenstein, and Duel Reality. When not performing STC shows, our spaces are rented for special events, productions, rehearsals, and community events.

Supervising our Box Office Manager, Front of House Manager, and Retail & Concessions Manager, this Director-level position is an integral part of STC’s team and will support STC’s beloved (and growing!) subscriber base, single ticket patrons, and excellent STC staff. Staffing, training, quality control, ensuring the best business practices are maintained, developing improvements, and upgrades to policies as necessary all fall under this position. Additionally, this position will collaborate on planning and executing safety policies, ensuring proper training and certifications as appropriate, as well as being a well-informed voice on STC’s Safety Committee. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and an annual salary of $80,000 - $85,000.

The ideal candidate is an expert at managing people, confidently supporting and advocating for all patrons and staff for positive interactions under any given circumstance, from the rudimentary to the extraordinary. STC seeks a person with a knowledge and appreciation of the arts, who exhibits creativity, flexibility, bravery, and kindness. A knowledge of Tessitura or ticketing software is ideal, experience with Ready2Work or other management and scheduling software is a plus, and an understanding of food service and retail management is preferred. This is a fully on-site position, with some evening and weekend shift supervision required.
