    Description

    Position Overview

    The Director, Human Resources leads Imagine Schools Riverside County’s (ISRC) human resources functions by coordinating and administering all related processes and functions including recruitment and selection, policy and compliance, benefits and compensation, and operational leadership. The Director ultimately helps ensure ISRC school based staff are effectively supported so they can focus on serving students. The Director is a key part of the schools’ leadership team, reporting directly to the Regional Director.

    Performance Responsibilities

    • Recruitment/Selection and Staffing
      • Develop a robust recruitment and selection strategy for open positions; recruit, screen and process applicants for hire.
      • Develop and implement onboarding programs for new hires.
      • Ensure all staff meet position requirements for licensing and/or other legal or administrative requirements.
      • Maintain up-to-date personnel records including offboarding documentation.
      • Consult with administrators on a wide variety of sensitive personnel issues (e.g., hiring, promotions, transfers, medical issues, return to work) for the purpose of assisting in effective decision making and enforcing all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
      • Communicate to the Regional Director on all aspects of personnel matters.
    • Benefits and Compensation
      • Manage employee benefits in collaboration with administrative staff; ensure competitive total rewards for staff.
      • Maintain accurate payroll records and timely submission of payroll.
    • Policy and Compliance:
      • Collaborate with leadership to review and update policies, ensuring alignment with legal and institutional standards.
      • Facilitate necessary annual training and document compliance activities.
      • Support the development of crisis response and safety protocols, ensuring readiness and compliance.
      • Ensure compliance reports related to personnel data and benefits are completed accurately and on time.
      • Manage the progressive discipline protocol, coordinate the grievance process, facilitate conflict resolution, and seek legal guidance, as needed.
    • Operational Leadership
      • Develop a clear Human Resources strategy for the campuses, including performance metrics.
      • Develop and improve HR and Talent systems, processes and policies.
      • Contribute to the design and execution of strategic initiatives.
      • Undertake tasks and projects assigned by the Regional Director.

    Experience, Education, and Credentials

    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
    • Valid and appropriate CA Administrative or Supervision Credential required
    • Minimum of five (5) years in the human resources or related field
    • Experience leading a team preferred
    • Experience in K-12 education preferred
    • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred
    • Valid California Driver License
    • Fingerprint criminal justice clearance
    • Tuberculosis clearance

    Classification

    This is a full-time, exempt position based on a full year calendar cycle and supports our two schools in Riverside County (Coachella and Hemet). The Director, Human Resources will work out of one of the two campuses and can expect frequent travel to the other campus.
