    Description

    Job Overview:

    The Cunningham Township Supervisor's Office (CTSO) Deputy Supervisor serves as a primary support to the Supervisor, providing organizational leadership, financial development, and staff support. The Deputy Supervisor coordinates strategic planning, manages growth and change, and leads the management team helping to build an equitable, responsive, transparent, forward thinking township.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Organizational Leadership & Assistance
      • Serve as Chief of Staff
        • Provide day to day supervision of Leadership Team members.
        • Oversee organizational and departmental plans.
        • Represent the Township in writing and in person.
        • Act on behalf of the Supervisor in their absence.
      • Coordinate organizational planning, monitoring, reporting and improvement.
        • Produce and execute 4-year strategic and annual organizational plans in collaboration with the Supervisor, staff, partners, and participants.
        • Monitor and report on organizational progress.
        • Prepare for monthly Town Board meetings.
        • Support the Supervisor in managing growth, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations.
        • Oversee business process reengineering and technology enhancements and office expansion with support from staff and consultants.
      • Coordinate the development and maintenance of strategic partnerships.
        • Convene key partners in areas of need and change.
        • Establish & maintain Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs) and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs).
        • Oversee & manage Township Social Service grants process.
      • Support Research and Development to guide planning, programs, and partnerships.
        • Complete special projects and initiatives as Directed by the Supervisor.
        • Oversee/support research interns.
      • Support Supervisor in advocating for policy change for low income residents at the local, state, and national level.
        • Support preparation of presentations at conferences and policy tables.
        • Develop white papers and supporting education and presentations, and other related tasks.
      • Other duties as assigned.
    • Financial & Grants Development
      • Prospect and submit grants – both individual and in collaboration with partners – that align with Township’s strategic plan.
      • Oversee grants management by Directors and support staff.
      • Oversee Township’s private giving program, donor outreach, and appreciation.
    • Human Resources and Staff Support
      • Act as on-site Human Resources expert.
      • Maintaining up to date HR policies and procedures.
      • Approve payroll and time off requests of assigned staff.
      • Lead staff meetings as requested.
      • Coordinate regular staff trainings and professional development opportunities.
      • Coordinate hiring, onboarding, evaluation, course correction, and offboarding of staff.
      • Coordinate the internship program ensuring outreach, prospecting, and position descriptions in alignment with educational goals and organizational needs.
      • Promote employee appreciation and wellbeing, positive culture and workplace satisfaction.

    Qualifications include:

    • 4+ years experience in organizational leadership.
    • 2+ years in supervision.
    • Demonstrated facilitation, partnership and collaboration experience.
    • Experience with research and producing reports.
    • Ability to oversee and ensure quality work and take performance-based criticism.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment while multitasking in a fast paced, growing office.
    • Highly organized and efficient, with attention to detail.
    • Digital office skills including: Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Docs.
    • Ability to effectively organize, complete, and evaluate assignments.
    • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to adapt to changing environments and new technologies.
    • Ability to hold client information in strict confidence.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with people of all economic, racial and gender identities.
    • Demonstrated commitment to the values and principles of Township.
    • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the Supervisor, team members, partners and members of the public.
    • Valid Driver’s License

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Human Resources management experience.
    • Strategic planning experience.
    • Communications strategy and planning.
    • Experience with contract negotiations.

    Work Environment:

    • Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week.
    • Work performed in-office with some flex and work from home time negotiable.
