    ABOUT ROOTS OF SUCCESS

    Roots of Success (RoS) is an empowering environmental literacy and job training program that prepares youth and adults who have been failed by the education system (and other systems) to access jobs and career pathways in environmental fields, and to improve environmental conditions in their communities. The program is centered around a federally registered Department of Labor Apprenticeship and Pre-Apprenticeship and 10-module course that is offered in a wide range of settings that include: prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities, job training programs, reentry programs, high schools, youth programs, adult schools, and other education and workforce development settings. Since 2009, we have worked with over 700 program partners throughout the United States. Over 28,000 youth and adults have gone through our program; more than 13,000 enrolled while incarcerated. We work in both carceral and community settings.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Program Manager’s role is to assist the Executive Director with all matters related to past, current, and future programs and program partners as well as other related work. This is a full-time position, M-F between the hours of 8am - 6pm PST. This position requires exceptional organizational and computer skills, the ability to manage multiple data sets and projects simultaneously, attention to detail, and dedication to our mission and the population we work with.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist Executive Director with all matters related to past, current, and future programs and program partners
    • Support and manage a high volume of requests and projects
    • Enter and track program data including registration forms of students, surveys, qualitative and quantitative data
    • Prepare, track, and follow-up for all trainings
    • Prepare, track and follow-up on Apprenticeship and Pre-apprenticeship
    • Maintain high quality communication with program partners, instructors, participants, others
    • Maintain detailed records, high quality filing and communication systems
    • Identify and recruit program partners, networks, coalitions, etc, to deepen our impact
    • Collaborate with RoS staff as needed
    • Provide outstanding communication, responsiveness, and support services to current and prospective partners
    • Research and prepare for relevant conferences
    • Create social media posts and outreach to increase visibility and deepen relationships
    • Assist with grant funded projects
    • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed
    • Other related responsibilities as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Commitment to racial and social justice
    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
    • Enjoy spending large amount of time working with data bases and data sets
    • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Suite/Excel, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Groups, Calendar), MailChimp, Zoom, Canva, Social Media Platforms, etc.
    • Experience using Excel and Pivet Tables
    • Analytical thinker, active listener, team-builder
    • Strong sense of personal responsibility, able to work independently and as part of a team, exceptionally self-motivated
    • Outstanding communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, etc.)
    • Ability to work well and communicate with individuals with a broad range of backgrounds
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Detail orientation and capacity to switch frequently between multiple tasks
    • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities under tight deadlines
    • Commitment to supporting a collegial and collaborative work environment
    • Excellent skills in collaborating within and across teams
    • Ability to receive and provide actionable feedback

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Located in Bay Area, able to work in person in Berkeley
    • Work both in person and remotely
    • Work online for large portions of the workday as needed
    • Office set up with computer and consistent/reliable internet access
    • Work M-F between the hours of 8am - 6pm PST

    Compensation & Benefits

    Program Manager Full-time salary: $68K - $75K depending upon experience. Part-time will also be considered. Full-time benefits package includes medical and dental insurance, vacation, sick time, and holiday pay. We seek candidates who are committed to Roots of Success’s mission and work.
