    Description

    We’re seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, self-motivated Human Resources Manager to lead and manage all human resources functions. This includes recruitment, employee relations, performance management, policy development, compliance, and fostering a positive organizational culture. The HR Manager will collaborate closely with leadership and provide strategic and operational support as we continue to grow our team.

    The person who succeeds in this role will have a strong background in organizational and HR experience, strong interpersonal communication skills, the ability to quickly learn and manage digital tools, and an aptitude for working well in start-up environments.

    Specific job responsibilities include:

    • Assist with the remote recruitment process, including posting job openings and coordinating virtual interviews.
    • Coordinate the remote onboarding process for new hires, including setting up digital workspaces, organizing virtual orientation sessions, and ensuring access to necessary remote resources.
    • Develop and maintain digital onboarding materials to ensure new employees have a smooth transition into the organization.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for staff regarding HR policies, procedures, and concerns. Resolve conflicts while ensuring compliance with labor laws.
    • Assist in coordinating performance reviews, provide guidance to management on employee reviews, and support staff development and growth.
    • Coordinate payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees
    • Manage employee expense reimbursements.
    • Maintain and update HR policies, ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws, and implement best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Assist in managing employee benefits programs, including healthcare, retirement plans, and other incentives.
    • Organize and oversee staff training programs, ensuring they support the professional development of the team.
    • Maintain employee records and prepare necessary HR reports for management.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    The ideal candidate will have top-notch interpersonal skills, judgment, and the ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment. We need someone who can work independently with a strong sense of urgency and take initiative to identify and resolve challenges. Must have access to a quiet workspace (home office or other space) with high-speed internet and the ability to take calls and/or video conferences during working hours.

    Required qualifications include:

    • Proven experience in human resources management, ideally in the nonprofit or legal sectors.
    • Deep knowledge of HR best practices, compliance, and employment laws.
    • Commitment to our organization’s mission
    • Strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles and their integration into HR functions.
    • Ability to work independently in a remote work environment while effectively managing time and priorities.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and empathy.
    • Experience using Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Drive
    • Experience using Mac computers
    • Exceptional technology comfort and competence including willingness to embrace new tools and self-train using provided resources as needed
    • Consistent attention to detail
    • Strong ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and escalate issues as appropriate

    Desired qualifications include:

    • Experience with any or all of the following digital tools: Airtable, Asana, GrooveHQ, Gusto, Slack
