    Description

    The Legal Aid Society has an opening for a Grants and Contracts Coordinator to assist in the Criminal Defense Practice operations. The position is ideal for someone interested in non-profit administration and management, who would like to be exposed to grants management, program evaluation, administrative functions and data analysis in criminal defense and post-conviction programs.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    Grants and Contracts Administration

    • Maintain knowledge of grant funding policies, scope of work, regulations, and procedures to be able to provide guidance to staff regarding grant reporting requirements and data recording procedures
    • Maintain and comply with a calendar of funding and reporting deadlines
    • Coordinate with CDP program staff and the CDP Grants and Contracts team in the preparation of reports and proposals to government and private funders by providing data and other relevant information as needed
    • Collect, clean, and analyze data to prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports to funders and program leaders
    • Collaborate with the CDP Grants and Contracts team, IT department, Finance department, administrators, and program leaders to ensure that information needed for grant reports is collected
    • Coordinate the collection of expenditure reports on a periodic basis on select programs supported by grants
    • Coordinate with administrators and Accounts Payable for the approval and processing of grant-related expenses
    • Responsible for detailed planning and status of projects as they arise
    • Handle highly confidential and valuable information and materials

    TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

    Required qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of work experience

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience with contract compliance and reporting
    • Expert knowledge of spreadsheet and database management
    • Working experience in the nonprofit sector

    • Some knowledge of the Criminal legal system preferred
    • Highly proficient with MS Office, especially Microsoft Excel
    • Familiarity with Law Manager or similar case management systems, or ability to quickly learn
    • Must be able to work independently and initiate, design, and implement new procedures
    • Ability to respond quickly and calmly in emergencies and problem situations is essential

    • This is a fully remote role that involves managing tasks on computer equipment for extended periods of time
