The Director is responsible for ensuring our students receive a high quality academic, social and emotional, and Jewish education in the Reform Judaic tradition while fostering authentic relationships with teachers, families, children, and community stakeholders. The Director supervises the curriculum and all programs of the school, while allowing teachers the autonomy to create lesson plans that meet the needs of their individual students.
Requirements for applicant:
- Level III NC Early Childhood Administration Credential Certificate is strongly preferred, or willing to obtain this credential within a reasonable timeframe
- Minimum 5 Years experience in early childhood education administration and/or nonprofit management

Director’s responsibilities include:
- Supervising all programs of the school, incorporating the school philosophy in the development of lesson plans, progress reports, daily schedules, curriculum, and assessment of students
- Partnering with the Assistant Director to manage all aspects of the program.
- Planning, scheduling, and supervising the summer camp program
- Overseeing the finances of the school including creating and working within a budget to manage tuition, payroll, professional development, academic and social programming, and facilities maintenance
- Establishing and cultivating a pleasant, inclusive, and professional working environment
- Managing all staff, including hiring, evaluation, orientation, salaries, supervision, and termination
- Working closely with the preschool’s Board of Directors to create and implement policy in accordance with licensing requirements and the school’s mission statement
- Maintaining a close working relationship with leadership of Temple Beth Or to develop programming for the students, develop Judaic training for the teachers, and coordinate community events to foster close ties between the school and congregation
- Maintaining professional activities and related professional memberships, keeping abreast of research and new developments in the field of Early Childhood Education
- Maintaining active involvement with school, counselors, and relevant agencies within the community
- Overseeing the recruitment and registration process to achieve optimum enrollment
- Ensuring ongoing easy and accessible written communication (such as email, apps, etc.) to families about what is happening in the school including:
- Monitoring weekly communication from teachers to parents
- Sending parent communication on a regular basis
- Remaining accessible and responsive to parents and students
