    Description

    The World Affairs Council Tacoma (WACT) is looking for an Administrator to facilitate and promote a range of Council activities. This is a part-time position paying $28/hour and is generally 20 hours/month, working remotely. Ideally this individual is tech savvy, interested in international affairs, and able to attend virtual board meetings every other month and virtual monthly executive committee meetings, both at 8AM.

    We are looking for a self-starter, comfortable working with minimal supervision, with an array of computer skills. Washington State residents only will be considered. The position will remain open until filled. If you have questions, please email administrator@wactacoma.com.

    Critical Skills:

    • Reliable internet access (at least 10MB download/1MB upload)
    • Experience with web applications (the Council presently uses Wix and Constant Contact)
    • Implementing and managing email reminders for meetings and events in Wix
    • Receiving emailed materials (copy, visual assets) from board members and crafting flyers and posts to the website for event marketing
    • Scheduling, hosting, and troubleshooting Zoom meetings
    • Preparing and sending email blasts for event announcements (using Constant Contact)
    • Comfortable with social media platforms, primarily Facebook, X, and Instagram
    • Basic familiarity with digital payment systems and invoicing (the Council uses Wix)
    • Basic familiarity with Google Suite
    • Basic familiarity with YouTube studio

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Managing back-of-house operations of the World Affairs Council (Gmail, VOIP phone, website, and social media presence)
    • Organizing and maintaining digital files and records
    • Planning and scheduling meetings, events, and appointments
    • Preparing and editing digital correspondence, reports, and presentations
    • Providing quality customer service

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Basic knowledge of graphic design software/suites such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Express or Canva
    • Customer service experience with diverse members of the public, from the interested layman to government officials and/or their staff
    • Knowledge of best practices and intellectual property concerns regarding web-based marketing
    • Excellent writing skills, including crafting original correspondence and email announcements

    Education:

    • Required: High school diploma or above, with two years relevant experience
    • Preferred: AA or BA
