    Wholesale Outbound Logistics Manager (Full-time)

    Position Summary

    The Outbound Logistics Manager is responsible for the smooth operation of GrowNYC Wholesale Food Distribution’s delivery process from start to finish. This role works closely with our warehouse team, drivers, and customers to coordinate product movement from our distribution centers to customer locations. This includes planning delivery schedules, creating and optimizing routes using our routing platform, tracking shipments in real-time, and ensuring all deliveries meet our quality standards and time commitments. You'll also handle delivery exceptions, communicate status updates to customers, and work with other departments including our customer service team to resolve any issues that arise. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and the ability to adjust plans quickly when unexpected situations occur.

    Requirements

    Wholesale Outbound Logistics Manager Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):

    Logistics and Compliance

    • Schedule and coordinate deliveries based on customer needs, product availability, truck capacity, and transportation resources
    • Assign routes and loads to drivers using our routing platform (Cigo)
    • Monitor deliveries and solve problems when delays occur
    • Communicate with drivers, warehouse staff, and customer service teams
    • Improve routes for better efficiency, fleet utilization and on-time delivery
    • Ensure compliance with DOT and NYC rules and regulations, (including parking, traffic, and truck route restrictions) food safety requirements, and company policies

    Staff Management

    • Work with warehouse and driver teams on proper loading of outbound orders
    • Oversee staff management, including hiring, training, workflow, individual work plans, annual performance appraisals, professional development, conducting individual and team staff meetings, and reviewing staff time sheets as needed to ensure efficient time management.
    • Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with direct reports and lead team meetings.

    Customer Service and Admin

    • Keep accurate records of shipments and transportation documents
    • Address customer questions and concerns about deliveries
    • Review delivery performance KPIs including on-time delivery, delivery accuracy and help make improvements
    • Support with end-of-day documentation - including invoicing, route reporting, customer feedback and similar

    Qualifications

    • Familiarity with DOT and NYC rules and regulations as they pertain to commercial vehicles
    • Prior experience in logistics or dispatching is helpful but not required
    • Excellent customer service skills to handle various customer needs
    • Strong written and public speaking communication skills, with a desire and proven ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and knowledge levels.
    • Excellent Interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers

    Schedule

    Tuesday - Saturday, scheduling can start as early as 6am depending on business needs. This position is full-time and year-round with an expected weekly workload of 35-40 hours per week with a 1 hour unpaid meal break each work day.

    Compensation

    This is a non-exempt full-time salaried position. It pays $60,000 - $65,000 annually and includes full benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, paid time off, Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and potential for parental leave for full-time regular employees who have been employed with GrowNYC for 175 days and FSA programs).This position is not union eligible/not a part of the bargaining unit

    Location

    This is a hybrid role including 2 days at GrowNYC’s Bronx Food Hub, and mandatory presence on Wednesdays at the downtown office.
