    Description

    A New Way of Life Reentry Project is seeking a passionate and dedicated Communications Manager to develop and implement strategic communications plans that advance the mission of the organization. The Communications Manager will oversee all aspects of communication, ensuring that the organization's messages are clear, impactful, and resonate with diverse audiences. This includes public relations, media relations, digital and social media presence, marketing materials, and donor communications to support the reentry efforts of individuals transitioning from incarceration.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Develop and Implement Communication Strategies: Create and execute comprehensive communication plans that include media relations, digital content, social media, and marketing initiatives to support the organization’s mission of promoting successful reentry and reducing recidivism.
    • Lead the Communications Team: Mentor and manage a team of communication professionals, providing guidance, feedback, and opportunities for professional development.
    • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with internal teams to ensure messaging and branding consistency across all communication platforms, from social media to press materials.
    • Content Creation and Distribution: Oversee the creation and distribution of key communication materials, including press releases, newsletters, blog posts, social media content, and marketing collateral.
    • Media Relations and Outreach: Build and maintain a media list, fostering relationships with local, regional, and national journalists to secure media coverage and amplify the organization's initiatives.
    • Digital Presence Management: Oversee and grow the organization’s digital presence, ensuring a strong and consistent voice on websites, social media platforms, and other digital channels.
    • Photography, Video, and Graphic Design: Work with the team to create compelling visual content that tells the story of the organization’s work and the people we serve.
    • Donor and Stakeholder Communication: Manage communication strategies to engage and inform donors, partners, and other stakeholders, ensuring they are kept up-to-date on key initiatives and progress.
    • Other Duties as Assigned: Flexibility to handle other communication-related tasks that support the organization’s goals.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing, with demonstrated leadership experience in managing a team and coordinating multiple projects.
    • Skills:
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
      • Strong project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple priorities, manage deadlines, and ensure quality results.
      • Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, WordPress, and social media management tools.
      • Experience in photography, video editing, and graphic design to create engaging visual content.
      • Strong knowledge of media relations and the ability to cultivate relationships with journalists and media outlets.
      • Knowledge and passion for social justice issues, specifically in the areas of reentry, criminal justice reform, and community reintegration.
    • Commitment: A deep commitment to the mission of A New Way of Life Reentry Project, with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities in supporting individuals in the reentry process.
    • Availability: Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed to support events, campaigns, and organizational needs.

    • Location: Must be based in the Los Angeles region
