    Reports to: Executive Vice President of Political

    Location: Washington, D.C.

    Union Position: This job is covered under the terms of a collective bargaining agreement with the Washington-Baltimore News Guild, Local 32035

    Salary: $52,000-$58,000

    Job Summary: The Political Assistant is tasked with aiding the political shop by tracking races, coordinating with campaigns, advocacy groups, and influencers around the country that align with the organization’s mission to combat big money in politics, fight corruption, and protect voting rights. They will join a collaborative work environment and help ensure ECU continues increasing its alliances with partners.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Track races for the Political team by organizing incoming information ECU receives from either the campaign, partners, or media sources.
    • Liaise with campaigns, gathering information on their immediate needs and helping ascertain in the future where ECU can be of assistance.
    • Conduct light research on campaigns. Must be able to synthesize information for the team.
    • Offer support for external and internal Political department meetings, webinars, and other events that bring together partners, activists, and policymakers.
    • Aid in the collaboration of the Political department by monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of our internal tracking metrics and providing regular reports on our progress.
    • Represent ECU externally and help to identify and prioritize meetings and events that organizational leadership should participate in.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience either interning or volunteering in politics. Excellent communication and organizational skills, along with a passion for democracy reform and voting rights, are key to success in this role.     Job Location: This is a remote position, but the Political Assistant must be located in the DMV area and have the ability to attend meetings and events in Washington, D.C., on a daily basis. Regular work-related travel is required.
