    Reporting directly to the Vice President of Philanthropy, the Development Assistant is a part- time, hourly, non-exempt position whose role is to create a cheerful, professional and service- oriented environment for donors and prospects as well as provide administrative support to the Vice President of Philanthropy and Development and Donor Services department members. Proficiency working with MS Office and relational databases, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate well with donors and board-level volunteers as well as staff in all departments of the Foundation are essential to the success of the position. This individual is required to perform the responsibilities of the position diligently and with strict confidentiality.

    BCF offers a flexible, hybrid work environment. Depending on the agreed upon twenty hour per week part-time schedule, the Development Assistant may have the opportunity to work remotely up to one day per week.

    Responsibilities

      • Provide administrative support to the Vice President of Philanthropy, including: scheduling and preparation for meetings, returning phone calls, managing correspondence, filing and general administrative organization;
      • Provide support to the Development and Donor Services department including scheduling department meetings and other administrative functions as needed;
      • Provide meeting support for select family fund foundations, including scheduling, sending meeting notices,preparing and sending agendas, dockets and other materials;
      • As needed, assist Finance with incoming and outgoing mail process, opening and sorting all mail received to remove and log all checks;
      • Provide support with managing phone system including answering incoming calls to the main phone and responding to callers’ inquiries about the Foundation;
      • Greet guests and callers with professionalism;
      • Provide administrative support for events, including RSVP management, nametag production and day-of support;
      • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Philanthropy.

    Qualifications

      • Executive level administrative experience;
      • Entrepreneurial, analytical and solution-oriented;
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel and Outlook;
      • Attention to detail;
      • Strong written and oral communication skills;
      • Knowledge of donor database platforms a plus.

    Position Information

    Type: Hourly, Non-Exempt

    Hourly Rate: $22 - $28 per hour, depending on experience

    Other Compensation: This position is eligible for overtime

    Location: Baltimore, MD

    Schedule: 20 hours per week; Hybrid – 1 day/week remote work option
