    ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal is a transdenominational movement that is committed to bringing spiritual vitality and passion into the daily lives of Jews through trainings, programs and events that empower leadership, build multiracial, multicultural communities, and generate powerful experiences. The ALEPH Ordination Program (AOP) is ALEPH’s largest program and one of the leading Jewish seminaries, training rabbis, cantors, rabbinic pastors and spiritual directors from diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and representing nearly every denomination to serve the global Jewish community with the goal of revitalizing Judaism.

    About the Position:

    The full-time Development Director will lead both strategy and implementation of ALEPH’s fundraising operations and grow ALEPH’s budget, currently around $2 million annually, including working with the AOP Deans, project directors, teachers, and partners to build ALEPH’s long term sustainability. Start date is January 1, 2025.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Write, submit, and secure general operating, ALEPH Ordination Program and program-specific grants. Write and submit the associated grant proposals.
    • Develop comprehensive fundraising and development plans and objectives in conjunction with the Executive Director, Dean of the AOP and Sustainability Committee with targeted goals, quantifiable outcomes, and timelines.
    • Support ALEPH’s member network communities and existing partners to pursue joint funding opportunities.
    • Investigate, research, and pursue funding opportunities that will extend ALEPH’s brand and increase avenues of support.
    • Manage donor database and stewardship program.
    • Leading outreach to potential partner organizations to pursue joint funding and other collaborative opportunities.
    • Staff ALEPH’s Sustainability Committee to review, monitor and assess fund raising programs, and identify meaningful ways for Board members to participate in fundraising and revenue generating activities.
    • Write, edit, and produce a variety of timely, inspiring content for web and print to engage ALEPH’s supporters and donors to help meet our growth and impact goals, including materials for development, programs and workshops.
    • Familiarity with Jewish Renewal and/or Jewish philanthropy a plus.

    This position reports to ALEPH’s executive director.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required

    5-7 years of successful work experience in fundraising/development or other related field

    Highest levels of personal initiative and attention to detail

    Demonstrated ability to problem solve and ask for assistance when needed

    Ability to work independently and with a cross-functional team

    Confidence and maturity in dealing with clergy and lay leadership

    Highly organized and flexible with experience supporting multiple projects

    Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting or beating deadlines, and to adapt to a changing environment a must

    Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills

    Experience working with geographically dispersed management is highly desirable

    Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, emailing and database management

    Salary range between $95,000 - $100,000
