    Development Director

    Position Overview

    The Development Director leads Triangle Community Center’s (TCC) fundraising, donor relations, and resource development efforts. This position is central to the planning, execution, and success of TCC’s signature events: Pride in the Park and the Annual Gala. The Development Director creates and implements comprehensive strategies to secure financial support from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Director collaborates with the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers to ensure the sustainability and growth of TCC’s programs and services.

    Areas of Responsibility

    Fundraising Strategy and Implementation

    • Design and implement an ambitious, mission-driven fundraising plan that supports TCC’s annual goals and long-term vision.
    • Identify and build relationships with potential donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations, guiding them through the full giving cycle from introduction to stewardship.
    • Develop creative sponsorship strategies that engage partners and showcase the impact of their support, with a focus on Pride in the Park and the Annual Gala.

    Event Planning and Management

    • Lead the strategic planning and execution of TCC’s two flagship fundraising events - Pride in the Park and the Annual Gala - ensuring these events are community-centered, inclusive, and financially successful.
    • Partner with internal teams, volunteers, and event committees to bring each event to life, managing all aspects from concept to completion, including logistics, timelines, and on-site coordination.
    • Oversee event budgets and marketing materials to elevate donor engagement and sponsorship visibility.

    Donor Relations and Stewardship

    • Create and maintain meaningful, ongoing connections with donors, recognizing their contributions in authentic and personalized ways.
    • Drive strategies that grow the donor base, increase major gifts, and build sustainable giving through recurring contributions.

    Data Management and Reporting

    • Maintain an accurate and organized donor database that supports efficient fundraising operations and informed decision-making to continuously refine development strategies and maximize impact..
    • Provide clear and consistent updates to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, highlighting fundraising progress, donor trends, and areas for growth.

    • Demonstrates a deep understanding of fundraising principles, particularly in the context of large-scale events, with an ability to turn mission-driven experiences into revenue-generating opportunities.
    • Brings creativity and strategic insight to the design of sponsorship packages and donor experiences that resonate with diverse stakeholders.

    Relational Intelligence and Donor Stewardship

    • Excels in building and nurturing authentic relationships with individuals, sponsors, and community partners, grounded in empathy, active listening, and trust.
    • Possesses strong interpersonal communication skills that inspire confidence, deepen loyalty, and foster long-term philanthropic partnerships.
    • Leads with collaboration, motivating staff, board members, and volunteers to participate in fundraising efforts with clarity, purpose, and shared ownership.

    Strategic and Operational Leadership

    • Applies systems thinking and strategic planning to align fundraising initiatives with organizational goals, long-term sustainability, and compliance with ethical fundraising practices.
    • Brings analytical rigor to fundraising - leveraging data to evaluate performance, guide decision-making, and adapt in real time.

    Cultural Competency

    • Embodies a strong understanding of LGBTQ+ communities, demonstrating sensitivity to intersectional identities and systemic inequities.
    • Upholds a strong commitment to racial equity and understands how systemic oppression shapes the lived experiences of marginalized communities.
    • Models cultural humility and emotional intelligence, building a development program that reflects and uplifts the full diversity of the community TCC serves.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or related field. Extensive experience may replace formal education.
    • Proven success in fundraising and donor development including event management.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience with donor databases (e.g., Blackbaud, Give Butter,or Salesforce).
    • Effective time management and project coordination skills.
    • Deep commitment to TCC’s mission and values, including DEIAB principles.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Salary: $68,000–$80,000 annually.
    • Benefits: Health, dental, vision, and life insurance (with employer contribution), PTO, paid holidays, and a hybrid work model.
