    Many Languages One Voice (MLOV), was founded in 2010, and our mission is to foster the leadership and greater civic participation of immigrants and refugees who do not speak English as a primary language. We believe an actively engaged community that challenges existing inequities by dominant power is key to achieving systemic change. Thus, we support our members’ leadership and amplify the voice of our most vulnerable members to find solutions to the systemic racial inequities that impact their lives.

    MLOV is a leading player in the immigrant rights and justice movement in DC and regularly builds partnerships and coalitions with wide-ranging stakeholders. In addition to nonprofits and community organizations, MLOV works with government officials, agencies, businesses, and worker groups to advance power-building of immigrant communities in DC.

    Parent Programs

    • Digital Literacy and Job Readiness: Through our cohort-based programs, participants with limited digital skills learn foundational digital literacy skills and soft skills. Participants also receive wrap-around support, including interview prep, individual job coaching, and internship placement through a new sub-program.
    • Committed Families Program: through this 8-week program, caregivers of middle school and high school youth learn about the U.S. Education system, options for post-secondary education, advocacy strategies, socio-emotional development, and strategies for supporting their children's education journey. Most participants are caregivers of youth who are enrolled in our youth programming.
    • Mom's Circle: a four-week program that provides parenting workshops and serves as a support group for moms of children birth to three years old. Participants also receive diapers and wet wipes on a monthly basis as part of our diaper distribution program.
    • Diaper Distribution Program: since mid-2022, MLOV has provided close to 2,000 boxes of diapers and wet wipes for immigrant families.

    Parent Leadership Programs Coordinator: In collaboration with our Parent Leadership Programs Manager, this role will be responsible for implementing efforts to strengthen our parent engagement initiatives around family, schools, and community. This includes building the leadership of our immigrant families that are limited or non-English proficient members by sharing resources and information, managing the logistics of the programs, and conducting community outreach and follow-up.

    An overview of responsibilities is below. Please note this overview may not fully encompass all possible duties, as the work may evolve over time in response to community needs and organizational priorities.

    Program Coordination:

    • Assist with the implementation of program sessions held on mornings and/or afternoons/evenings for groups of 10 - 15 parents;
    • Communicate with participants in regard to engagement in the program (attendance, development, etc.);
    • Engage with instructors and MLOV staff to improve the implementation of the programs;
    • Prepare materials and supplies for the program;
    • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all participants;
    • Communicate and coordinate with program partners;
    • Recruit diverse participants for programs, prioritizing participants who have not previously participated in MLOV programs;
    • Follow-up with participants outside of class for individualized support;
    • Support program set-up and tear-down before and after session;

    Instruction:

    • As needed, implement digital literacy classes for adults on topics provided by MLOV;
    • As needed, implement parent engagement classes for adults on topics provided by MLOV;
    • Using resources provided by MLOV instructors provides support implementing the lessons to participants individually and as a group when needed;

    Data, Reporting & Logistics

    • Maintaining inventory of computers & equipment for programs;
    • Deliver surveys for program participants;
    • Maintain MLOV’s internal statistics related to Digital Literacy Programs and Parents Comprometidos Program, and support development of reports and summaries;

    Organizational Involvement

    • In collaboration with other staff, help organize community events;
    • Adhere to all program and MLOV organizational policies;
    • Participate in MLOV meetings;
