    Salary is commensurate with experience and location based within the following ranges $105-120K Washington, DC; 75-90K EU; 65-80K UK. Other locations considered.

    Description

    The Director, Programs oversees the work of a multifaceted Program Team in diverse locations responsible for implementing GoodWeave’s inspection, monitoring, and certification; child labor prevention and remediation activities; supply chain due diligence and research; and monitoring, evaluation, and learning. Based from their home office or GoodWeave's Washington, DC headquarters, he/she will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Leadership Team (ELT). This role supports the planning, development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of all program related operations, including:

    Programs

    • Lead the design, development and effective management of GoodWeave’s Program Team;
    • Ensure that all programs are mission centered, contributing to the elimination of child labor and in-line with the organizational strategic plan;
    • Work with the CEO and fundraising team to develop funding proposals and follow through on funding opportunities;
    • Ensure program team produces timely and high quality reports for program donors, and engage and steward current and prospective donors in partnership with fundraising team;
    • Direct current and new program managers to ensure that GoodWeave’s core carpet, home textile and apparel programs, and sector pilots have operating plans and are advancing to meet strategic goals and objectives;
    • Ensure that new work integrates with and leverages GoodWeave’s existing programs and ensures efficiencies;
    • Continue to build and maintain GoodWeave’s capacity building curriculum that fosters a field of practitioners that can effectively achieve supply chain transparency, apply meaningful labor rights standards, ensure remedy to victims, and implement prevention programs;
    • Identify and cultivate new program partners;
    • Work closely with program managers to ensure that the learning from the monitoring and evaluation program is integrated into program design and implementation;
    • Oversee all programs to ensure they are adequately resourced, providing quality deliverables that are within timelines and budget.

    Operations

    • Take a leadership role in GoodWeave’s strategic planning, annual planning and budgeting processes;
    • Liaise with field office Country Directors on management issues including personnel, fundraising, operations, and program strategy;
    • Ensure all programs closely follow GoodWeave’s safeguarding, remediation and other core policies;
    • Cultivate and mentor program staff to support their professional growth and commitment to GoodWeave’s work; foster a culture of accountability and quality in all aspects of program work.

    In addition to these duties, the Director, Programs may serve as a liaison between the CEO and other entities within the GoodWeave network on programmatic and/or administrative issues. This position reports directly to the CEO.

    Experience and Qualifications.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • A passion for GoodWeave’s mission, with a commitment to market- and rights-based approaches for achieving social goals.
    • Minimum 10 years of progressive responsibility in a management role, preferably.
    • Experience leading successful programs through strategy, design, implementation and evaluation.
    • Proven track record in donor cultivation and proposal development, preferably in issues of social justice.
    • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, writing and public speaking skills.
    • Initiative and independence, combined with the ability to work well in a team and manage and mentor other staff.
    • Strong team-based orientation, with experience working with international teams.
    • Ability and willingness to travel in South Asia.
    • Comfort with an autonomous, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, and with GoodWeave’s nonprofit-business hybrid model.
    • Experience and expertise with child and forced labor and other international labor rights and standards. socially responsible business; and/or human rights due diligence in supply chains.
    • Experience and expertise related to South Asia, gender equity, and/or climate action preferred

    Level of Language Proficiency

    Fluency in English required with outstanding interpersonal, communication, writing and public speaking skills. Knowledge of Hindi, Nepali and/or Bangla a plus.
