ECOS is looking for experts in the fields of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting and Chain of Custody (CoC) Models to represent and defend environmental interests in the development of standards and related policies. Our experts provide us with technical and scientific input and represent ECOS in standardisation processes and multi-stakeholder discussions.
ISO GHG Accounting Standards and the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard are the key standards used globally by companies for GHG accounting and reporting. They play a key role in addressing climate change by enabling organizations to measure, report, and reduce their GHG emissions. These standards are currently being revised. ECOS wants to ensure the current loopholes and gaps are closed, whilst preventing new ones from being created that could lead to inconsistency in accounting and reporting.
A key focus is on market-based instruments such as certain CoC models, which are gaining traction in the GHG accounting space. In many sectors, the complexity of value chains makes CoC models central for generating environmental information. Yet, not all CoC models are appropriate for use, in particular for GHG accounting as some can incentivise the underreporting of emissions and lead to misleading environmental claims.
ECOS is seeking experts in the fields of GHG accounting and CoC models. We are ideally looking for a candidate with expertise in both areas. However, recognizing the complexity of the subject matter, we are also open to engaging two experts with complementary expertise—one specializing in GHG accounting and another in CoC models.
The expert(s) will represent ECOS in ISO standards 14064-1, 14064-2 and 14067. Interested candidates should be able to demonstrate in-depth technical and scientific knowledge on:
GHG Accounting
CoC models
In addition to technical expertise, candidates should be capable of producing evidence-based recommendations in a compelling manner, with the ability to persuade others, build consensus, and form alliances with key stakeholders.
