    Job Overview

    The Director of Growth and Impact is a key role to driving the development and implementation of strategies to grow and manage the Foundation’s portfolio of individual donor advised funds (DAFs), combined impact funds, also known as collaborative or pooled funds, and fiscally sponsored projects.

    The Director is a key member of the Growth and Impact team which represents the full portfolio of the Foundation's services to prospective and current clients. Business development strategies will include outreach and engagement with donor and funder networks; cultivation of relationships with financial advisors and philanthropic advisors, cultivation of relationships with institutional funders and philanthropy serving organizations; and high touch engagement with inquiries and referrals.

    The Director will report to the Senior Director of Growth and Impact and support the development of new strategies and services targeted to enhance the experience of individual and institutional clients working with the foundation. This role is primarily responsible (80%) for cultivating new relationships, unlocking resources, and expanding the Foundation’s reach through high value sales efforts, with the remaining 20% focused on advancing organizational initiatives and fostering engagement with existing clients.

    This position requires a highly organized and self-disciplined individual with strong oral and written communication skills. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy collaborating with team members, have a donor/client services mentality, and can remain agile.

    Key Responsibilities

    Sales and Business Development (80%)

    • Develop new approaches and execute outreach to prospective individual and institutional clients, including high net worth individuals, philanthropic advisors, private foundations, and other stakeholders.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing institutional funders, donors, and their philanthropic and financial advisors to drive growth of funds housed at Amalgamated Foundation.
    • Independently present and pitch the Foundation’s suite of services—including DAFs, Combined Impact Funds, and Fiscal Sponsorships—to unlock resources for frontline organizations and mission aligned initiatives across a variety of opportunities including conferences, prospective client calls, etc.
    • Proactively follow up and engage with prospective clients to ensure effective and responsive communication throughout the business development lifecycle.
    • Ensure prospective clients' needs are matched to appropriate ACF products and services and guide conversations to a mutually beneficial partnership.
    • Become an expert in the Foundation’s products and services to effectively pitch and navigate questions about fund structures, charitable compliance, and accepting complex assets.
    • Support the inquiry and referral management system, ensuring efficient processes for securing enrollment forms, fund agreements, and initial contributions.
    • Design strategies to convert contributors to collective funds into individual DAF donors and encourage referrals from current DAF holders.
    • Stay informed of sector trends including but not limited to the Donor Advised Funds, Collaborative Funds, and Fiscal Sponsorship best practices.

    Impact and Engagement (20%)

    • Partner with Foundation leadership to support innovative programs and services that enhance the impact and efficiency of the Amalgamated Foundation ecosystem.
    • Represent the Foundation at key conferences and within philanthropy and social justice sectors to strengthen visibility and credibility.
    • Contribute to strategic planning for the Foundation’s DAF and Combined Impact Funds programs to align growth goals with mission impact.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with new DAF holders and Combined Impact Fund stakeholders, fostering long term engagement.
    • Collaborate with other Directors to ensure seamless client and prospect management.
    • Contribute to Growth and Impact strategies through active engagement in strategic planning with the Senior Director.
    • As a member of the Growth and Impact team, foster a positive, solutions-oriented culture in the organization.
    • Participate in compliance activities across fund types at the Foundation.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements

    • Proven experience (7+ years) in sales, fundraising, or business development within the philanthropic or social justice sectors.
    • Track record of raising 6 to 7 figure gifts from a diverse set of stakeholders.
    • Strong relationship building skills, with a track record of managing high value client portfolios.
    • Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—and the ability to present to diverse audiences.
    • Technological proficiency, including experience with CRM and project management tools.
    • Robust understanding of the philanthropic ecosystem, including individual and institutional philanthropy, donor and funder networks, and social change movements.
    • Ability to engage with a diverse set of stakeholders including
    • Ability to effectively communicate across a diverse set of mediums including presentations, collateral, emails, etc.
    • Deep commitment to customer service.
    • A solutions oriented mindset with a client focused approach to engagement and service delivery.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Expertise in charitable giving and institutional philanthropy.

    Salary & Benefits

    The salary for this position is $150,000 - $175,000 commensurate with experience. This position will be remotely based. The role will require domestic travel, as needed, including the Foundation’s retreats and other in-person meetings as necessary.
