    This self-starting individual is responsible for driving fundraising success for the Northern California Chapter through the Breakthrough T1D Walk and other Peer to Peer programs including Ride. Through collaboration and coordination with national and regional teams, chapter staff, and volunteer partners, the Development Manager partners with chapter leadership on a strategic approach to achieve Walk & Peer to Peer goals. This individual is responsible for managing, coordinating, and leveraging the comprehensive development areas of the chapter Walk and other Peer to Peer events. The Development Manager is an integral member of the Peer-to-Peer team and should be a strong, proactive, problem solver, that drives towards fundraising and event goals.

    This is a remote position. The individual must live in the Northern California Chapter territory. The expectation is that staff will be available for regular in-person meetings and other in-person gatherings. When applying, please include cover letter and resume.

    Responsibilities

    • Serves as a key staff member in implementing the chapter’s Walk & Peer to Peer programs including Ride in Northern California
    • In partnership with the Peer-to-Peer team, supports and implements the strategic plan for the success of the Walk & Peer to Peer programs of the Northern California Chapter resulting in the attainment of revenue goals of $1.5M+
    • Manages a fundraising goal and portfolio of supporters to achieve that goal
    • Provides management for chapter Peer to Peer community development activities that funnel donors into Peer-to-Peer programs, outreach to newly diagnosed who are interested in getting engaged, relationship building, community events, and volunteer development as these activities are essential for continued growth, reach, and increased engagement in core market areas
    • Collaborates with chapter staff and national/regional staff to achieve the Chapter’s revenue growth in the Walk and Ride and is a pipeline driver for all chapter engagements
    • Manages, evaluates, and expands cultivation opportunities, and stewardship that will grow the programs at all levels and ensure an extraordinary participant experience.
    • In partnership with Sr. Development Manager, responsible for implementing a strategy to develop a people pipeline of new volunteers, community leaders, donors, and fundraisers, and proactively seeks out and identifies new leads for family, corporate and school teams, and individuals, to engage new supporters in the Walk and Peer to Peer Programs
    • Follow Walk annual timeline/calendar and ensures priority activities and goals are achieved on schedule
    • Strategically and consistently utilizes CRM data management tool to maximize efficient and effective moves management of donor pipeline
    • Ensures personal accountability for meeting deadlines and responding to volunteers and other department requests
    • Follows all SOPs, guidelines, and policies from both National and the Chapter
    • Support for other fundraising events, chapter activities, and programs as assigned

    Qualifications

    • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • At least 4 years of work experience including 3+ years fundraising or relevant business/volunteer experience
    • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects, meet deadlines under pressure, problem-solve and effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong CRM database knowledge, Salesforce preferred.
    • Must be a self-starter, with the ability to collaborate as a team player
    • Strong verbal and written communication. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
    • Grant writing skills desirable
    • Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers
    • Excels in prospect research and thinking creatively to develop donor acquisition strategies
    • Experience in new business development and account management preferred
    • Ability to create and manage processes that enhance efficiency of staff work while allowing for donor centricity
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
    • Familiarity with outreach activities preferred
    • Must reside in Northern California chapter footprint and can travel to meetings and events in the Northern California geography. Occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
