    Description

    The Small Planet Institute seeks a dynamic and versatile leader to fill the roles of Senior Writing Associate and Institute Manager who will work closely with renowned author Frances Moore Lappé on her groundbreaking new book, Hidden Hope.

    As Senior Writing Associate, you will collaborate closely with Ms. Lappé to research and write compelling content for her blogs and upcoming next book. You will contribute to an exploration of the critical issues facing democracy throughout the world today.

    As Institute Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Institute office in Harvard Square. This includes administrative tasks, coordinating events, and providing Ms Lappé with logistical support.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Writing and Research:
      • Conduct in-depth research on topics related to democracy and social justice.
      • Assist in writing and editing drafts of Ms. Lappé's work.
      • Contribute to the Institute's publications, website and other social media
    • Institute Management:
      • Oversee the Institute's office operations and maintain a positive and efficient work environment.
      • Recruit and oversee research interns
      • Manage day-to-day administrative tasks, including scheduling, correspondence, and financial management.
      • Coordinate events, travel and public speaking.

    Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
      • Strong writing and research skills.
      • Passion for democracy, social justice and current affairs.
      • Ability to work effectively as member of a team.
      • Proven experience in office management
      • Skilled at organizational and time management
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Website, Social Media and other relevant software.
