Through the 20 independent produce merchants that occupy its space, The SF Market moves millions of pounds of fresh produce through the Bay Area to local restaurants, grocers, and other food-related businesses. It occupies 485,000 sq. ft. of food-focused warehouse and distribution space in San Francisco's Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood.     Position Overview:

    We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Marketing Communications Manager to create and shape this newly created role within our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that align with The SF Market's mission, vision and values. Tactically, the Marketing Communications Manager will select and implement appropriate marketing tools, and establish and execute efficient workflows. This role offers a unique opportunity to increase the visibility of The SF Market to its key target audiences and make a significant impact on the future of the organization.

    Location & Work Schedule: This position is required to work onsite at The SF Market offices located in San Francisco, CA at least 70% of the time; core onsite days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; must be able to be onsite early (7:00AM PT) at least one day per week.

    Classification: This is a part-time position for 20-25 hours per week; open to W2 or Consultants

    Pay Range: The compensation range for this position is $40.00-$65.00 per hour, depending on experience.

    Applicants are required to submit a 1-page writing sample targeting B2B audiences and designed to grab the attention of business decision makers. Applications without a writing sample will not be considered.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and maintain a consistent brand voice across all marketing communications
    • Create and manage digital content (website and social media), ensuring it remains up-to-date and engaging
    • Craft and distribute communications to the SF Market merchants, Board of Directors, volunteer committees, and broader stakeholder audiences
    • Identify and conduct outreach to key PR targets, building relationships with media, industry, trade associations, and other influencers
    • Partner with the Fund Development Director to create compelling fundraising communications to support The SF Market's growth, rebuilding, and environmental initiatives
    • Support communications with city, state and federal government partners
    • Plan and execute community-building programs and events, including in-person merchant townhalls and digital initiatives, such as webinars, online forums, and social media campaigns
    • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and community-building initiatives and adjust strategies as needed
    • Drive development, content creation, and design of public documents such as the Annual Report and the Strategic Plan
    • Manage and optimize the organization's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, ensuring accurate data maintenance, effective utilization for stakeholder engagement, and strategic insights generation
    • Organize and manage the Market’s digital image library

    Qualifications:

    • 5-10 years of experience in marketing communications, preferably in B2B with understanding of the non-profit sector
    • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field

    Required Skills:

    • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone for various audiences
    • Demonstrated experience in content development
    • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including Canva, WordPress, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, as well as MS Office and Adobe Suites
    • Experience in media relations and conducting PR outreach
    • Experience with event planning and management
    • Understanding of the local, state and federal political landscapes and government communications
    • Excellent project management and organizational skills
