    Description

    The Maya Gold Foundation is a Hudson Valley based non-profit serving youth and families. Our mission is to empower youth to access their inner wisdom and realize their dreams. After nearly ten years of operation, we are seeking a Development and Communications Consultant to move us forward. The successful candidate will work with the Board of Directors to assist in funding the organization and promoting their work in the community. This is a part time (15 hours per week) position based in New Paltz, NY. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

    The Development and Communications Consultant (DCC) serves as a leader in fundraising for and promoting the work of the Maya Gold Foundation. The DCC is the chief consultant with overall responsibilities for locating and obtaining grants and other funding sources, and for promoting the organization on social media, print, radio, in person, and other media outlets. The DCC works in partnership with the Board, provides the Board with professional advice and support, and is responsible to and serves at the pleasure of the Board. The DCC’s general responsibilities are delineated below. Note that this is a part time position based in New Paltz, NY. In person attendance at Board meetings is required, but some remote work is possible as well.

    Typical Responsibilities:

    Development

    • ensure timely and appropriate grant development & grant reporting
    • oversee fundraising planning & implementation as directed or assigned by the board
    • identify resource requirements, researching funding sources, establish strategies to approach funders
    • submit proposals, and manage fundraising records & documentation
    • represent the organization at community, interagency, and social functions

    Communications

    • assist the Board President and committee chairs in preparing agendas
    • attend Board meetings and attend committee meetings as needed
    • take, post, and manage Board meeting minutes
    • write content for press releases and social media posts and disseminate as needed
    • respond to requests for information and engagement with various stakeholders

    Qualifications and Experiences Desired:

    Development

    • knowledge of best practices in non-profit development
    • ability to use grant funding search tools
    • successful experience with grant writing
    • ease at in-person development and networking functions
    • high level of attention to detail
    • excellent writing skills

    Communications

    • ability to create social media posts for multiple platforms and post
    • excellent command of written and spoken English
    • technical proficiency on Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel (including mail-merge)
    • proficiency in Canva or other social media graphic creation tool
    • basic digital image and video editing skills
    • knowledge of social media post aggregator tools (Buffer, etc.)
    • knowledge of Wordpress editing
