    Description

    The Bilingual Forensic Interviewer (FI) is vital in conducting interviews with children, and adults with developmental disabilities who have experienced trauma. This role requires proficiency in both English and Spanish to ensure accurate and culturally sensitive communication. Join our team to help provide safety, healing, and justice for the children and families of Alameda County.

    All FI positions are part-time, and each interviewer assumes other agency responsibilities to comprise a full-time position. We are currently seeking a full-time staff member who will work part-time as a Bilingual FI and part-time assisting the Executive Director with program activities (as described on the following page).

    Responsibilities:

    Forensic Interviewing & Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration (50%)

    • Conduct developmentally appropriate, unbiased forensic interviews following a national, research-based model.
    • Attend and stay updated with basic and advanced forensic interviewer training.
    • Develop a working knowledge of the Alameda County Child Abuse Protocol and relevant laws as it pertains to child abuse.
    • Consult with multidisciplinary team members (e.g., child welfare workers, detectives, and prosecutors) before and after interviews.
    • Schedule CALICO appointments and facilitate agency coordination.
    • Maintain accurate intake and interview documentation.
    • Participate in monthly staff and case review meetings.
    • Participate in peer review sessions on forensic interviews.
    • Testify in court hearings upon subpoena.
    • Demonstrate professionalism and exceptional interpersonal skills.
    • Consistently interact with others in a culturally competent manner.
    • Responds to after-hours weekday, weekend, and holiday emergency requests from law enforcement and Alameda County Child and Family Services on a rotating on-call basis.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality.
    • Fulfill duties as designated by the Program Manager and Executive Director.
    • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

    Other Assigned Duties (50%)

    The specific job responsibilities for this position will be determined based on the skills and expertise of the selected candidate and will include:

    • Document all services provided to clients according to agency requirements and guidelines.
    • Develop and promote child abuse prevention month (April) activities in coordination with the CALICO Program Manager and other staff members.
    • Collect agency data and assemble reports.
    • Act as a community liaison and representative of CALICO.
    • Support the CALICO Training Coordinator with CALICO’s annual collaborative training.
    • Assist in delivering educational presentations.
    • Contribute to a positive, forward-thinking, and collaborative work environment.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Fluency in Spanish (speaking, writing, and reading) is required.
    • Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, human services, or a related field is required.
    • Completion of Child Forensic Interview Training (CFIT).
    • At least two years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
      • Forensic Interviewing or comparable work with children
      • Child Protective Services
      • Criminal Justice
      • Victim Advocacy
      • Counseling
    • Strong communication skills with children (ages 2 ½ to 17) and adults with developmental disabilities.
    • Must be able to manage a range of emotions in high-pressure situations.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, coupled with organizational abilities.
    • Positive, outgoing attitude with a resourceful, self-motivated, and detail-oriented approach.
    • Ability to collaborate and form positive, professional relationships.
    • Proficiency in computer data entry and word processing
    • Excellent listening skills and ability to synthesize verbal information quickly.
    • Strong project management skills, ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
    • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
    • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and dependable transportation.
