    Overview

    Join a well-loved New Hampshire non-profit dedicated to empowering boys from disadvantaged backgrounds via a unique combination of tuition-free summer camp and year-round mentoring support.

    As a Mayhew Outreach Worker, your role would be divided into two main work seasons.

    Job Description from September to May:

    • Develop a professional mentoring relationship with each boy (10-18 years old) in your caseload, serving as a resource, role model, and trusted adult friend.
    • Ensure the care, welfare, safety, and security of all program participants.
    • Build collaborative relationships with schools and agencies in your area.
    • Evaluate and admit new participants each spring.
    • Embrace a self-directed work schedule (with most working hours happening after school, on weekends, and during school vacations).

    Job description from June to August:

    • Fulfill a critical leadership role at camp.
    • Train, support, and mentor summer camp staff.
    • Reside on Mayhew Island during this summer season.

    Our most successful applicants:

    • Have at least 1 year of experience working with a similar population of boys.
    • Have a bachelor’s degree (or are close to completing one).
    • Are highly motivated, professional, and responsive to feedback.
    • Lead healthy, active and positive lifestyles and are physically capable of participating in all the activities we share with the boys (hiking, swimming, rowing, climbing, etc.).
    • Naturally do what's right and are willing to live in a dynamic, disciplined, and structured community during our summer program.
    • Demonstrate a good sense of humor, creativity, patience, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to purpose.
    • Have previous camp experience
    • Have an interest in committing to Mayhew for a minimum of 3 years.
    • Consent to and pass a comprehensive criminal background check.
    • Are at least 21 years of age and have a terrific driving record.

    As a member of our team, your benefits include:

    • Salary + summer bonus ranging from $42,500 to $44,300
    • Up to 3 months of temporary free housing as you seek permanent residence in the state.

    The Anticipated Hiring Process:

    • Initial phone interview with Program Director (~30 mins)
    • Videoconference interview with Program Director and Operations Director (~90 mins)
    • Writing & skills assessment (~1 hour), reference checks (2 professional + 1 personal), and criminal background check
    • In-person interview with Executive Director (~1 hour)
    • Job shadowing experience + Community Meet-and-Greet (~8 hours)
