National Organizer for Electoral Strategy

Position Summary

The National Organizer of Electoral Strategy plays a critical role in advancing the electoral campaigns and political strategy of RTTC-A. This position is responsible for recruiting and supporting member organizations, managing grant programs, ensuring compliance with electoral regulations, and leading GOTV efforts. They oversee electoral interventions, provide training and resources, and develop strategic initiatives to strengthen organizational infrastructure.

Additionally, the National Organizer facilitates meetings, supports communications, and collaborates with leadership to implement electoral strategies across the alliance. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to drive impactful political engagement and advocacy efforts.

This position will be supervised by the Right To The City Associate Director of Electoral Engagement and employed by Right to the City Action and will not be sponsored by Right to the City.

Member Organizing and Development

• Engage directly with member organizations through one-on-one meetings, surveys, and ongoing tracking of their campaigns and organizational development.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive campaign map to provide insights into RTTC-A membership and electoral activities.
• Design training materials and resources to support member organizations in electoral campaigns, integrated voter campaigns, and compliance adherence.

Political Strategy

• Support the electoral strategy team by facilitating meetings and developing agendas that advance the goals of the 501(c)(4).
• Spearhead member engagement efforts by organizing regular one-on-one discussions and coordinating strategy sessions focused on electoral interventions.
• Assist the Associate Director in implementing electoral intervention tactics across the alliance to enhance membership alignment and participation.

Campaigns and External Engagement

• Lead yearly Get Out to Vote programs that includes recruiting and training RTTC-A members to deploy to different state and elections to support turnout.
• Support the Associate Director in developing electoral campaigns that supplement the national organization's strategic objective and policy priorities.
• Support the communications department 501(c)(4) communication, including social media management, website content updates, and email campaign material creation.
• Recruit members to participate in our endorsement process and candidate engagement

Resource Strategy

• Identify and recruit member organizations to participate in funding and grant programs.
• Review grant and funding applications, offering recommendations to support resource allocation decisions.
• Assist in shaping funding priorities for the 501(c)(4) to align with strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with leadership to craft and refine the overarching narrative and vision of the 501(c)(4).

Compliance and Infrastructure

• Plan and host annual training sessions for staff on 501(c)(4) program compliance requirements.
• Manage relationships with compliance consultants and external advisors supporting member organizations.
• Provide guidance to member organizations on compliance-related issues, including campaign regulations and 501(c)(4) development.

• GOTV & Electoral Campaigns: 5+ years of experience and development running GOTV and electoral campaigns

Required Qualifications

• 4 - 7 years of base building and organizing experience working on local, statewide, federal, and/or electoral campaigns
• At least 2 years of experience in developing and executing Get Out the Vote (GOTV) volunteer field programs, candidate endorsements and engagement, and/or integrated voter engagement programs.
• Excellent writing and editing skills for media, policy, and popular audiences
• Drivers license and auto insurance

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to write and speak a second language, preferably Spanish
• Familiarity with CRM systems and Database management (Every Action)
• 1+ years experience in grant development, administration, and management
• 1+ year experience with 501C3 and 501C4 compliance and legal protocols including but not limited to experience with cost-sharing documents, staff salary allocation between the two organizations, and tracking the primary and secondary purposes of each organization.
• 1+ years experience in creating training materials and training organizational staff.

General Requirements

• Support the mission, vision, and goals of the Right To The City Alliance
• Experience and familiarity with housing justice, gentrification, displacement, and anti-eviction work and/or grassroots base-building organizations and transformative organizing
• Experience in multi-racial, multicultural settings
• Knowledge of common computer applications: MS Office, Google Docs, Adobe Acrobat, Dropbox, Mac environment, and Zoom video teleconferencing systems
• Access to reliable internet, phone, and remote office arrangements. RTTC provides for the costs of home offices.

Location and Travel:

• The location is negotiable. RTTC has concentrations of staff in the following areas: Philly, Atlanta, Boston, Brooklyn (physical office), and the SF Bay Area. Travel is required; frequency and duration of travel are negotiable. On average, this position will be expected to travel [1-2 times per month for a total of 5-10 days per month, year round].

Salary and Benefits

• This is a full non-exempt position. The salary range starts at $101,200. Compensation commensurate with experience and competitive with our sector.
