    Description

    Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, a not-for-profit quarterly magazine and website dedicated to making Buddhist teachings and practices broadly available for longtime practitioners and curious spiritual seekers alike, seeks a web editorial assistant. This entry-level position is an excellent opportunity to join a small, collaborative editorial department. The web editorial assistant will work with editors on all the day to day operations of the website. The position includes editing, writing, uploading posts to Wordpress, and administrative tasks. Applicants should have a college degree and a demonstrated interest in writing or editing; an interest in Buddhism is preferred.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Helping to assign and edit articles for the website
    • Contribute to weekly pitch meeting and presentation of new pitches
    • Copyediting, line editing, and proofreading
    • Conducting art research and commissioning artworks
    • Collaborate on image sourcing for web articles
    • Lead editorial team with web uploads for the magazine
    • Assist in answering general editorial inquiries
    • Lead permissions process for excerpt requests
    • Office errands, production tasks, and other duties as assigned
    • Find two teachings or practice pieces per week to be published in print or online (excerpts from books, dharma talks, newsletters)

    Additional qualifications:

    —Bachelor’s degree

    —Strong verbal and written communication skills

    —Strong familiarity with the social media landscape

    —Basic familiarity with web design and/or Photoshop

    —Ability to work independently and in small groups

    —SEO familiarity a plus
