    Description

    Responsible for the following:

    • Primarily responsible for all work and cases of the Litigation Committee.
    • Identify, file and litigate public interest litigation consistent with NLG principles.
    • Conduct legal research, analysis and writing.
    • Review current law, as well as pending legislative reforms.
    • Draft complaints, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
    • Participate in all aspects of litigation, including initial fact gathering, witness interviews, discovery and court appearances.
    • Explore opportunities for legal and /or policy reform, both through litigation and legal advocacy.
    • Coordinate litigation with other progressive groups.

    Qualifications/Requirements

    Possess the following:

    • J.D. degree & litigation experience.
    • Must be admitted to practice law in MA and possess malpractice insurance.
    • Strong commitment to progressive principles, public interest, and civil liberties.
    • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
    • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and think strategically and creatively about the use of litigation and other forms of legal advocacy to achieve progressive policy reforms.
    • Take initiative to identify areas in need of legal change.

    Benefits:

    • $35,000-$45,000/year for half-time, depending on experience
    • Flexible work hours; remote work possible
    • Include vacation, sick days, holidays, health insurance
    • Work under the supervision of the assigned members of the Litigation Committee.
