    About Obu Lamu:

    Obu Lamu is a community-based organization focused on holistic education, healing-centered engagement, and creative empowerment. We work with children and families to build inclusive, nurturing, and transformative learning spaces.

    Role Overview:

    Obu Lamu is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and committed Inclusive Learning Support Teacher with a strong background in supporting children with autism or other neurodiverse needs. The role will begin with providing focused, one-on-one support for a learner, with an opportunity to contribute to broader educational programs, special education capacity-building, and community training as the role progresses.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design and implement personalized learning strategies tailored to a neurodiverse learner.
    • Create a calm, structured, and responsive learning environment.
    • Collaborate with caregivers and other educators to ensure holistic development.
    • Assist in or co-facilitate community-based special education awareness and capacity-building sessions.
    • Support broader educational initiatives within Obu Lamu’s programs.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to curriculum innovation.

    Requirements:

    • At least 1–2 years of experience teaching or supporting neurodiverse learners (especially children on the autism spectrum).
    • Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills.
    • Ability to work with limited resources while maintaining care and professionalism.
    • A background in special education, inclusive education, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or child psychology is preferred.

    Preferred Qualities:

    • Humble, grounded, and passionate about community work.
    • Willing to work in a hybrid capacity (in-person and remotely) with full-time commitment.
    • Open to personal growth and development within a small, evolving organization.
    • Willingness to start immediately.

    Compensation:

    This is a full-time, paid position. Compensation will be discussed based on experience and availability.
