    Jewish Currents is seeking a full-time Operations Coordinator to facilitate the daily administration of the organization.     Founded in 1946, Jewish Currents is a magazine committed to the rich tradition of thought, activism, and culture on the Jewish left and the left more broadly. We cover a wide variety of topics, including the uses and misuses of antisemitism, the inner workings of Jewish communal organizations, Israel/Palestine politics on the ground and internationally, race and racialization, strategies and horizons of American left movements, the global rise of the far right, diasporic cultural expression, labor, climate, incarceration, immigration, and feminism.

    Responsibilities

    General Operations & Correspondence

    • Manage CRM database
    • Generate subscriber, donor, and other reports for a weekly dashboard and quarterly board reports
    • Manage subscriber, membership, donor, and events inquiries, feedback, and concerns in general email inbox

    Membership and Circulation

    • Pull subscriber rolls quarterly for printer
    • Coordinate with bookstores that stock JC
    • Liaise with fulfillment team to support issue deliveries
    • Track and facilitate delivery of membership perks
    • Support Deputy Publisher in executing mail and email subscription renewal campaigns

    Physical Infrastructure

    • Receiving and shelving print issue deliveries
    • Maintaining storage unit and physical item inventory

    Virtual & In-Person Events

    • Help with logistics for in-person events, including set-up, strike, selling merchandise, and coordinating volunteers
    • Handle logistics for virtual events, such as administering Zoom tech support

    Staff & Writer Infrastructure

    • Send and track freelancer contracts and payments
    • Coordinate logistics for once- or twice-yearly staff retreats

    Fundraising

    • Record donations by check and generate tax acknowledgment receipts
    • Coordinate thank you notes to mid- and high-level donors
    • Coordinate EOY tax acknowledgement letters

    Other Support As Needed

    Requirements

    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with a team
    • Self-motivated and takes initiative in response to needs and opportunities
    • Does well working in fast-paced environments with shifting tasks and priorities
    • Knowledge of Jewish study, art and culture; and/or left and progressive politics; and/or the politics of Israel/Palestine
    • Experience with spreadsheets and CRM management is a plus
    • One or more years relevant experience preferred

    Note: this role is responsible for receiving issues and maintaining the storage unit, which includes lifting and shelving heavy boxes. If this presents a particular challenge for you, we encourage you to apply and let us know.

    Location

    This position is a hybrid position based in New York City, and will be supervised by the Managing Director. Most in-person work will take place in Brooklyn.
