    Position Overview:

    The Development Associate is a collaborative self-starter who supports JOIN’s development efforts with a focus on poverty and homelessness. This role is integral to the Development Team and assists the Development Director in executing JOIN’s fundraising and communication strategies.

    Salary: $25/hour

    Full Time non-exempt position with option for 100% paid employer paid Health Benefits (medical & dental benefits for employee and all dependents), employer paid Long and Short term disability benefit, employer paid $50,000 life insurance, EAP, Flexible spending accounts for medical and dependent care, unmatched 403(b), holiday pay, 160 hours PTO, 10 paid holidays plus paid winter break shutdown, 8 hours/month paid community involvement opportunity, paid bereavement leave, paid trauma leave, and an 8 week paid sabbatical after 7 years of employment.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Donor Management: Maintain donor database, conduct analysis, and generate reports.
    • Correspondence: Draft and send acknowledgements, pledge reminders, and tax letters.
    • Foundation Support: Research, edit, and assemble materials for foundation proposals.
    • Event Support: Assist in planning major events, including procurement for raffle and auction items, house parties, and family nights.
    • Donor Cultivation: Assist in identifying and cultivating individual and corporate donors.
    • Financial Duties: Process remote deposits, enter into DonorPerfect, and manage gift card distribution.
    • Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, onboard and manage volunteers for the Day Space and events.
    • Storytelling and Social Media: Collect and share stories through written materials and social platforms, coordinate and draft monthly newsletter.
    • Outreach: Coordinate and support outreach efforts, including tabling at community events and coordinating volunteers.
    • Website Maintenance: Update JOIN’s website with relevant content, including job postings.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Experience working with diverse populations.
    • Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and stay organized.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and JOIN’s anti-racist mission.
    • Nonprofit development experience, preferably in social services and/or homeless services.

    Technical Proficiency

    • Microsoft Office Suite, Google Office Suite, Canva, donor management software experience required.
    • Social media and website management experience, required.
    • Bulk mail experience is a plus.
